-Aiman’s plea to her grandfather and his advice
This was probably the best scene done in today’s final episode of Zard Mausam. After the last episode I can say with no doubt that the story had so much potential, and it definitely surpassed my expectations. Was there room for improvement? Yes. Would I have wanted a different ending? Slightly. But, was the ending satisfying? Yes.
After a series of unfortunate events (yes, that is a book series title :D), Aiman is divorced by Tariq, disowned by her father, and kicked out by Mehru from her house. Basically, she is left in the middle of nowhere in the midst of the cruel world, deserted by even her family. She turns to her grandfather for help, and as he gives her advice, which were some very wise words in my opinion, he also asks her to come over whenever she desires to do so. She sort of gets her happy ending, but not before she begs forgiveness from Mehru.
After Momo’s appalling behavior against her mother, Mehru finally sits down and is forced to think. Obviously Momo is her daughter, not the horrible Sara’s whom she had always blamed for Aiman’s misbehaviour. So why was this happening to her now? It didn’t make much sense to Mehru as to why her daughter was acting this way. After all, she had always remained strict with her daughters. So why now was Momo starting to look strikingly similar to Aiman as she was before? Mehru reflects on everything and the viewers come to the conclusion that it’s makafat-e-amal. What goes around comes around, and looks like Mehru can see that coming.
Mehru and Aiman have a heartfelt scene where they both apologize to each other and basically break down in front of each other. Each putting away their pride, each trying to reconcile with one another. Beautifully done! Loved how Aiman came in and talked about the letter and reminded Mehru of the previous letters to Waqar. Could have been a bit shorter, but for the purposes of a finale, it was well done!
Finally Nana and Waqar patch things up which was amazing in my opinion. The only thing I didn’t like was how they ended the way they did. I wanted Waqar to take Aiman’s hand and put it into Shahmir’s hand and end it there or something. Just anything more creative than the traditional way to end a normal episode. Besides that, the dialogues were well done.
This review can’t end without giving credit to the entire team! Aiza Khan and Sania Saeed especially shone throughout this entire serial! Can’t think of anyone who would be better suited for the roles given to everyone! The writers, producers, directors, editors, cast, everyone basically rocked! Waiting to see more from the director, Abis Raza!
Though it may have had it’s ups and downs of episodes, the last episode paid it all off! The drama was a bit lengthy, but I’m glad it didn’t drag further more. What I liked most about this serial has to be the fact that the characters seem so real. We can all see some Aimans and Momos and Waqars and Tahirs in our society. Also, pride was a major theme of Zard Mausam. Too much pride really ends up giving you nothing. A lesson to think about that ZM forces us to do so.
P.S. A special shoutout to the readers, the commenters, the invisible readers (:D), DramasOnline for posting episodes right after they aired, and Maria for reviewing for me when I was unable to do so! This drama will always be special to me because it’s the drama that I started off with on DramaPakistani and I reviewed it from beginning to end, so I guess you can say it’s pretty close to my heart for me. Basically thank you to everyone that has encouraged me to keep writing. Hope you all enjoyed ZM as much as I did, and these 24 weeks have been worthwhile after all. Can’t wait to write more on DP inshallah!
