Disclaimer: This might be a harsh review.
Mehru’s middle name should be Manipulator.Way to be a stereotypical stepmother. Sure females hold grudges, but why take them out on people that don’t even deserve it? In today’s episode, Mehru became the evil stepmother, and treated Aiman harshly to the point where Aiman threatened to kill her. As bad as that may sound, I can’t say I exactly blame Aiman. She can’t turn her life around in a week after being spoiled for years. It’s not logical. As I was watching today’s episode, all I could think of was how parallel this drama is to Cinderella. Two stepsisters, One “Evil” Stepmother, a Prince Charming (as we’ll see later on, even though Mohib Mirza’s character made his entry today), and finally a sort of Godmother in the form of Babur. And if that wasn’t bad enough, Mehru called Waqar and pretended to be the helpless mother who’s doing everything she possibly can to fix Aiman, but Aiman is the bad person in all this. Personally, I’m so disgusted by Mehru right now.
What I’ve learned about Aiman throughout today’s episode is that as headstrong and arrogant she may be, she has a sensitive side to herself. I felt so bad for her when she realized that all these years, Mehru was simply putting up an act and she doesn’t care for Aiman at all. And on top of that, seeing the promo, it seems like even Waqar gives up on Aiman. I can’t even contemplate how bad she’s going to feel.
How could I end this review without saying how amazing the actors are? Sania as the horrible stepmother with her spot-on expressions, and Aiza as the helpless yet strong-willed daughter. The cast has done an excellent job fr0m the most major characters to the most minor ones as well.
This drama deserves far more recognition than it’s getting, and hopefully it will start getting more after the time leap. Great episode, and as always looking forward to the next one!
