I feel like this drama is getting by way too slow. I’m not exactly repelled, but not exactly hooked either. Of course the flashbacks are far more compelling than the present, at least for me, but the overall story is going by WAY TOO SLOWLY. I know it’s not the general opinion of the audience, but that’s just how I feel.
Today we were given some insight on Waqar and Mehru’s “new” and old relationship. They still cannot work out their differences, and it’s mostly because of their egos. Mehru is trying to be extremely nice and a completely different person with Aiman, but remains the same solid, strict, “I’ll yell at you if you don’t listen to what I’m saying so do what I said” kind of mother with her other two children. Waqar on the other hand remains the same father who spoils his daughter, and doesn’t pay attention to Mehru’s kids. He also is ashamed later on because of how open-heartedly Mehru is trying to accept Aiman, and his behavior beforehand (flashbacks) during their marriage. From the precap we can definitely see Waqar giving it a try, and I’m sort of excited for that.
Here I just quickly want to mention how bad I feel for Mehru. The helplessness Sania was portraying in the scene where she’s sitting in the dark room while the girls are sleeping was so real. She can’t go back to her mother’s house, where she doesn’t get treated properly and will constantly get humiliated, and here she’s basically a caretaker for Aiman. Just imagine that.
Tidbit: Khadija-bi (the maid) FINALLY leaves. I was so happy in that scene, as horrible as that may sound, :D. Aiman looked so cute, though when she was all “When is she coming back?”.
The cast and the direction is amazing! Loved the scene where Waqar comes to give Mehru the ice cream I think, and his face is showing in the cabinet mirror that Mehru was closing was brilliantly done!
So, in conclusion, this episode was pretty slow, but I got through it. A short review and sorry if this sounds rushed, have ALOT going on. But, tune in for the next review next week! :)
