So where has all the romance gone ? Be it Dayar e Dil ,My name is Yusuf or even Alvida I am just not feeling it … Maybe I am just too demanding but there is nothing like the desperation to see any of the lead pairs together I usually feel for my favourite dramas . at least yet….. Mind you these are the dramas I consider as some what above par : with good directors , writers and production values . My biggest disappointment was Sadqay Tumharey , that was working so well then the harsh reality of Khelu’s character took any chance of a good ending away. So what was it about Humsafar , Dastan, Daam, Aun Zara or say Khuda aur Mohabbat that made us love those lead pairs ? Yes the direction , yes the acting but I am going to say the beautifully written scenes were the biggest factor . I always say that no one can beat Pakistani writers . Their imagination and well thought out stories have kept the Pakistani Drama industry above water . Sadly at this point I think even they are being drowned by a deep tide of pure commercialism . Ultimately its making viewing the same old stuff again and again very tiresome and no wonder I hear Indian soaps are regaining the ground they lost a few years back.
My plea as a humble viewer to producers and channels , please let creative people create , allow them to innovate ,to take risks and go beyond the diktats of what will supposedly guarantee revenue. Everyone realises that channels must make money but surely there must be a balance . I wan
