Waqar Ali, the unsung hero of our music industry

We have always praised our plays for their content, acting, story and all sorts of reasons but we have hardly paid attention to their amazing background scores and title tracks that have sometimes been instrumental in making these plays popular. I genuinely feel that we hardly appreciate and recognize our stars till they cross the border and get appreciated there. It is only when our neighbouring country recognizes their talent and make use of it that we suddenly wake up and start appreciating their work. We have witnessed this many times in the past and such examples are Nusrat fateh Ali khan, Junoon, Ali azmat, Atif Aslam, Rahat fateh Ali khan and most recently Fawad khan .

I really feel sorry for us as a Nation. We are unaware of our own hidden talent and keep on comparing ourselves to others. Waqar Ali who has been serving Pakistani music industry for a couple of decades now and has produced absolutely brilliant numbers is not given the recognition and praise that he truly deserves. I am an ardent fan of Pakistani plays and their background scores and keep a track of all the people behind such amazing projects. Most of my favourite Osts are produced by Waqar Ali and it is really hurtful that I have hardly come across any news article or a blog appreciating his work or any morning show dedicated to pay tribute to his outstanding work. I often think that If he was in India, people would have literally worshipped him for consistently giving them such mesmerizing tunes or maybe he should seriously consider going to India and I am sure when he will come back, we will have all our morning show hosts lined up to call him to their shows and there would be innumerable articles written to praise his exceptional talent.

What I like about Waqar Ali is the quality of his work and his consistency. He is a gifted musician and a singer who has proved his talent over the years. Hamsafar’s ost played a major role in making it a huge hit across world wide. Not only Humsafar, but plays like Dil e Muztar, Mehram, Merey humdum – Merey dost , Aansoo, thori khushi, thora ghum, thakan, ashk, kuch pyar ka Paagalpan , Pyarey afzal , Mera Saaein and many more were not only successful because of their stories and their acting but their soulful sound tracks.

To sum up, we should acknowledge and recognize our own stars and promote their talent instead of waiting for other people across the border to draw our attention towards the unsung heroes of our country.
