Okayyyyyyyyy. I don’t know how rest of the viewers will respond to this post, However I always wanted to have a discussion where people can compare both the most talked about dramas that are being on aired in recent times.
I am just an ordinary viewer of Pakistani dramas and this piece of work is just my way of seeing and comparing both the dramas. Some of you might have been comparing them but just couldn’t express it.
I won’t get into telling you the summary of the story of both the dramas cuz if you are reading it you know what I am talking about. When I compare Vasl with Meri Zaat I notice a CLEAR Difference. And that has to be direction. I think mehreen is a better director then baber javed, no offense to baber he is one of the best amongst the lot that we currently have. Who can forget Meri Un Suni Kahan, Meri Jaan, hey… did you notice? This will be the 3rd serial in row for baber that starts with the word “MERI” :) , anyway back to the comparison.
So yes when we talk about Direction I think Mehreen (Vasl) is miles ahead then Baber(MZZBN). So what is it that makes MZZBN makes so much glued serial to watch? I think it’s the different story plus the acting. MZZBN works primarily due to the wonderful acting.. Faisal Qureshi , Samina Perzada and the main protagonist of the Serial are acting so wonderfully. the writing Umera Ahmed is nice even though I am not a Very huge fan of Umera Ahmed, I have read 2 of her novels, I did not like ( Man o Salwa) at all, full of negativity while I read Peer e Kamil( Will write the review of it in the Book review section) which was wonderful. So I am still reserved about my comments on her writing . however Meri Zaat, it’s a different story , about people who would lie on Quran, Per down the line I feel that in everyday life we would not find such characters that often, or do they really exist? Enlighten me then, because may be I still feel that life isn’t that negative at all.Umera Ahmed’s Writing style is different she is calm composed , and gets into minute details before she unfolds anything. So the viewer already knows what to expect next.
Vasl is a wonderful serial. Its pacy , straight to point dialogues with wonderful performances from the principle character and I am going to be very biasd, I Iike VASL more then Meri Zaat, why? It’s just my choice you guys can argue and can be in favor of Meri Zaat,
The reason why I like VASL more is because it’s straight out of life. The character are something that all of us can relate to. It explores different shades of women and show how complex a woman can be, but wait, this is not why I like VASL. I mean common every other drama is talking about women issues. However what makes Vasl so special is it also talks about MEN; yup you got that right, Vasl talks about different shade of men as well. You have hashim who is a typical stereo type male, who like an ordinary man cheats on his wife :) you have Shahood as a brother who is aggressive and has a nature of protectiveness. Ahsun who is sweet and very caring , and you have imran abass who is typical male whose ego has been hurt and will go to any extreme to take revenge, and you have salman whose is a character from our society but yet is not talked about. When I talk about Samira Fazal’s writing then there is only word, Brilliant!!!!. Her last 2 serials Meri Unsuni kahani and Meri Jaan were great but this one is different, this one is special oh yes it is. Samira Story is very very relavant to everyday happenings, It’s a story that everyone can relate to. A typical middle class family who is coping up with everyday life issues on daily basis.
So my Vote it VASL all the way, Some one you might feel that I haven’t done justice to Meri Zaat, but again its my own view
And the other reason why I believe VASL is better because you need to look at the star cast of VASL and Meri Zaat, Meri Zaat has Faisal Qureshi, Samina Peerzada.and the veteran actor shakeel While in VASL the only credible and seasoned actor is Aisha and Faisal Rehman, rest all of them are new or I would say have spent lesser time in the industry as compared to Meri Zaat’s team.
So what do you guys say? Which one is better? Be open and discuss, we the viewers who will rate it, its not rigged and will be pure consensus.
