When I saw the promos for Tumhare Siwa, it seemed like any other drama which has two set of couples who are best of friends and infidelity coming into play at a later stage. But when I watched the first installment the story turned out to be quite different, slightly different, slightly cheesy. Tumhare Siwa is a presentation from Moomal Entertainment, directed by the talented actor and director Sakina Samo and written by Wasi Shah.
The story revolves around two set of couples who are best of friends. One couple is Captain Azar (Ahsan Khan) and Rania (Ayesha Khan) and the other couple is First Officer Arsal (Noor Hassan Rizvi) and Samra (Mansha Pasha) who are best of friends. The opening scene of the drama gives us introduction into the lives and friendship of both the couples. There’s no denying the opening scene was shot very nicely but it seemed a bit stretched, it could have been easily shortened by a few seconds. As story progresses further, we are also introduced to Azar’s sister Tania, her husband Babar and their unruly, ill-mannered son. Rania organizes a small birthday party for her husband Azar which turns rather ugly because of Tania and Babar’s unruly son getting into a physical fight with Azar and Arsal’s children for no reason. Tania and her husband both are spiteful about Rania as they cannot see Azar giving more importance to his friend Arsal and his wife Samra over them and the maliciousness and hatred that they have instilled in their son for Azar and Arsal’s children doesn’t come as a surprise.
Things were more or less going well for both the families when the writer decides to drop a bombshell at us viewers and of course both the couples too. Samra faints at her house and is rushed to the hospital by Rania where after a couple of medical tests she is diagnosed with brain tumour which is malignant and there are barely any chances of her survival beyond a couple of months. I felt terrible personally when Samra was diagnosed with brain tumour as it hit too close to home, someone very close to me was recently diagnosed with the same problem but thankfully they underwent surgery and is doing absolutely great now. Even though it’s just a drama I still wish and hope that Samra recovers.
Ahsan Khan’s expression didn’t have much to offer, to be honest, I find him very repetitive, there’s no variety in his expressions or body language. Ayesha Khan’s acting reminded me of her character Sehrish in Shukk, the styling is pretty much the same and so is the acting, I consider her a good actor and I hope she will improve upon it in coming episodes. Mansha and Noor were good but since I’ve a soft spot for Mansha and I also feel she is underrated, she needs to work a bit on crying, the scene where she hugs her husband and tells him that she doesn’t want to die so soon, the crying looked somewhat fake to me. Overall, the first episode was fast paced and good. What also makes me glad is that the writer didn’t take the entire episode to establish the fact that Azar-Rania and Arsal-Samra are best of friends and will not hesitate in going out of their way for one another. Having said I am expecting more from someone of Sakina Samo’s stature and the four main characters.
The promo for next episode looks interesting as Arsal, Azar and Rania are making every effort to pool in as much money as they can to fund Samra’s medical treatment, let’s see if they are successful in their effort.
