TOPI DRAMA!!!!!!!!!!! Well one of the most publicized and advertised drama finally comes out
Recent times have shown us that the term oonchi Dukaan Pheeka Pakwaan has been really relevant in pakistani media because seldom has an over hyped drama turned up to its expectations. eben having this fear i tuned in to this dram with lots of anticipation because of many reasons
- After a strong beginning A&B productions have slumped a little in recent times and normally when this happens to leading production houses they do come back with a bang and try to set things right(productions in reference Humsafar by MD and Kaafir by Six sigma)
- The previous comedy by A&B KDMVHG had its down falls but it was a major hit and the screen duo of aijazz aslam and faisal qureshi suddenly rocked the screen
- The premise of this drama seems so interesting and unique(only in Pakistani counter parts because sadly!!the idea is an intellectual theft from abroad like Baarat series and many other sitcoms)
But the after seeing the first episode i am very confident in predicting that the my anticipation was entirely wrong the production house has proved me wrong yet again and topi drama is another step in the wrong direction by A&B and again the reasons are endless.
- A terrible script….comedies recently have been night mares in terms of intellectual worth of script but this one was by far the worst beginning of an sitcom in recent times.
- Faisal and Aijazz have started right where they ended in KDMVHG not realizing that they are over cooking the recipie and treading towards disaster because they seem to be doing the same stints that succeeded previously but sound like a mere repition this time . and faisal’s punch line “angrrezi blotey huay lagta hun na DESIGNER” was not even remotely funny.
- The camera work!!! they were also determined not to be left behind in the race towards doom . in certain shots the entire focus is out while the angling of shots is just horrific.
- The support characters especially the land lady has done a just OK job but a comedy demands more than this this it requires a complete touch of perfection while sadly her comic timing is not sublime enough.
Over all it really disappointed there were patches of brilliance specially between faisal and aijazz who did pull out some things good but that’s about it and from drama that was promoted like hell this is simply not enough
Whats more saddening is to see that Pakistan television’s comic tradition which started from a true classic like Taleem e Balighan and was decorated further by plays like Aangan tehra Half Plate and Rozy has come down to this level a cheap imitation of western or Indian slapstick comedies
