So since I have spent many a reviews criticizing Sheheryar Munawar’s acting, I feel I should start Episode 11’s review giving credit where it’s due. The episode ends with Zarak coming back from the Swat yelling at Zeenia for not answering her phone. Finally we see emotions in SM. When he was yelling at Zeenia about why he had to come back leaving Gul Jaan, leaving the rituals of Gul Dada’s death, leaving everything just to see why she wasn’t answering his calls, I saw potential. I saw the emotions of a person who should be angry under these circumstances. Facial expression could use some more practice, but this was SM’s best performance yet…in my opinion. It is why I had to start the review from the end of the episode.
Zeenia however wasn’t helping the situation. The guy leaves everything important to him, that too at such a sensitive and crucial time to come see her, and she is standing there asking him why he came then if those things were so much more important. Clearly she is more important to him which is why he is there. How does she not see that? I do feel sorry for her though. I mean she lost her mother and she still isn’t over that yet, her relationship with her father is almost non-existent, and due to Zarak’s background, he will always be in a dangerous situation. She is afraid of losing someone else who is extremely important to her. The fear of losing someone so important can make people do really bizarre and irrational things…like trying to leave without saying goodbye and breaking off one’s engagement, turning that fear in to a self-fulfilling prophecy. I think she needs to realize when people care for her and let go of her inhibitions. I’m sure though that in the next episode or the last one, it will all work out to make it a happy ending :)
Speaking of happy endings, how cute were Serena and Kishmish :) …especially when she brings him that bowl of sawaiyyan she made (and counted) herself? But before I talk about these two, Kishmish’s mum is still in the picture? Any why is she being paid 5 lachs a month? I thought perhaps Kishmish had younger siblings that she was raising and this was alimony but when Qabacha mistakes Chandni for his ex-wife and offers her 15 lakhs to stay out of their lives, that reasoning went out the window. I did feel bad for Kishmish though when he heard that. He seemed really sad…after all she is his mother. BTW, what’s with the ‘tum mere liye ab na mehram ho, tumhe mere saamne aise nahi aana chahiye’ wali line? If his ex-wife was dressed like Chandni then, she was perfectly fine (in my opinion). What about all the non-mehrams Qabacha hangs out with on a daily basis…Saaniya, Serena, Aani, and others? None of them are in a burqa so?
Ok back to Serena and Kishmish. Clearly Kishmish really likes her and she thinks he is ‘sqweet’ which he totally is. The scene where he is telling her how horrible her sister is and she puts the bowl of sawaiyyan on his head was pretty awesome. That entire scene was great, especially when he offers to treat her for dinner and she says on the condition that he cooks. I’m sure boiled eggs with ‘red sauce’ will never taste better. Ab to Zeenia too knows about their equation and she has told Saaniya Khala too. I’m actually waiting for their story line more than Z&Zs’.
And speaking of Saaniya Khala…is she really going to marry Qabacha in the end? All signs are pointing to that. That lawn scene where Saaniya asks Q to climb the tree and get rid of the ‘kawwa ka ghonsla’ was strange and funny at the same time. And Hakka finally says something important when he asks Q which is more important, his expensive suit or Saaniya Bibi. Good Job Hakka! I am glad that Aani gave her a lecture on playing with Q’s feelings too. She also justifiably is concerned about Saaniya’s future if God forbid, something happens to her and Faraan Uncle. I didn’t really like Saaniya’s reply that everything bad has already happened and nothing will happen going forward. Umm, challenging the Powers that Be is not the smartest idea ever!!
Episode 11 really was a good episode. Sorry these reviews are longer than others, but I feel like there is just so much packed in one hour and something just have to be addressed. There are only 2 more episodes left and that makes me sad. There aren’t many dramas out there that are not just family friendly, but also really well written and directed, add to that the powerful performance of the cast and you’ve got a winner.
