The 1st episode of Sirat-e-Mustaqeem surely was very interesting. Mustaqeem (Sami Khan) is shown as a very carefree and “Awaara” person. Even though his father (Firdous Jamal) is a very religious and strict person and tries to stop him, he always does what he wants. Mustaqeem’s mother loves him very much. He is basically her “Ladla beta”. It seems she hides a lot of Mustaqeem’s “Kartoots” from her husband so that he doesn’t get in trouble. Abdul Rauf Qureshi is Mustaqeem’s cousin and apparently his to-be brother-in-law. Abdul Rauf and his family seem to depend on his uncle (Mustaqeem’s father) very much. Mustaqeem’s father seems to have a very good impression of Rufi (Abdul Rauf), being totally unaware that he is just pretending to be a very “Sharif” and “Mazhabi” person. Mustaqeem obviously feels jealous at times because of how his father treats him and always says nice things about Rufi.
I found the story kind of different and interesting. Sami Khan has done a great job playing this character. It’s nice that he gets to do different kinds of roles now otherwise he did the same kind of roles every time; falling in love with the girl and ending up losing her! The way he has handled Mustaqeem’s character is pretty impressive. I found some of the things he did very cute, mostly his “sharartain”. Even though he is the person he is, he still has an innocent personality, unlike his cousin who secretly goes out with girls and lies to get Mustaqeem in trouble. At first, I thought Rufi was a good person, responsible and caring but later, I was like “What?!” There came a time during the show where I felt like punching him! And also, I did not like how Rufi and his mother rely on his uncle and not feeling a tiny bit of hesitation! There is something called self-respect! And besides, Hajji Sahab isn’t rich! They should understand that they need money too. In these circumstances going to them and asking them to buy his sister’s (Batool) books, I didn’t like it. I also hated how Rufi’s mother takes food from Mustaqeem’s house every day but still complains!
I liked the relationship of Mustaqeem and his mother. It was adorable! Especially the part where Mustaqeem goes to the kitchen at night to look for food and his mother comes along, I thought that scene was super-cute!
I think Sarwat Nazir has brought another great story to us, after Main Abdul Qadir Hoon. The story has just begun but I already like it very much. The song is just lovely! Hats off to Waqar Ali and Jabir Abbas for the wonderful OST.
So far, this drama has impressed me very much in just one episode. I am definitely looking forward to the rest of the story. I’m excited to see how the story unfolds further. Knowing Sarwat Nazir has written it, I have high expectations. I personally did not like Umm-e-Kulsum so much but Main Abdul Qadir Hoon was truly brilliant! Hoping for this one to be just as brilliant but in a different way.
My first review :) Hope you like it! Enjoy! :)
