I was wrong, I was wrong I freely admit it .For the last 7 episodes I had supposed poor old Mikaal to be a time waster and commitment shy but now the truth is out, the real guilty party is Zaib. Mikaal has managed to get his mother’s permission and the blessing of Zaib’s parents but hasina maan hi nahi rahi… Instead she is off doing foolhardy things like visiting the delinquent Dilaver and his family without telling Mikaal. Again Wassey Chauhdry and Amina Shaikh work so well together that their scenes are just a pleasure to watch. This week I felt a little sorry for Mikaal though because I think his feelings are going to be hurt, since he seems to genuinely care for Zaib. According to Natasha, Zaib is looking for someone with money and Mikaal himself confirms this when he says he was worried about being open with his feelings because he is not a wealthy man. These two seem to know Zaib really well.
It was quite funny how little Zaib’s parents know her motivations, that they insist she cares little money or material things in general. Zaib seems to be her father’s favourite and he manages to make an excuse for her at every moment. As usual Syed Ahmed’s expressions are priceless, this time when he is nudged into vacating the room so Mikaal and Zaib can talk alone. Zaib seemed a little petty and quite frankly mean this episode , surely she knows better than to interfere in her sister’s married life? ,
Meanwhile trouble is brewing in Natasha’s household. When Zaib literally makes up a story about knowing that Rayaan is getting divorced, the incensed Natasha calls poor Bilal in America, demanding to know why she was not told first. The ensuing snowball of recriminations about who said what and to whom seems likely to set off a whole new set of consequences ,especially as Rayaan accidently overheard the whole thing. Adeel Hassan looked nothing but displeased , so how much accidental truth there was in Zaib’s little story remains to be seen. I am beginning to feel sorry for all the men in this drama… all of them are in some way being browbeaten by these two sisters. Bilal is the more obvious case, having to bear the brunt of Natasha’s every insecurity and perceived slight. Even if Natasha is right must she pout at everything? I am not sure if this is the character or Mira Sethi but every time we see her pouting or scowling. I suppose this is fairly typical for newlyweds but if it’s getting wearing for me, I wonder how poor Bilal feels. Danyal Raheel seems to be doing a great job as the easy going bookend to Natasha’s panicky personality, soothing her and trying to calm every situation down.
The same cannot be said of Muneeza, who is developing into the greatest source of trouble. A more sensible woman would have handled this situation a lot better and managed to calm matters down, but all she does is add fuel to the fire. In the end we realise no one means any harm per se but because certain characters let their egos override any common sense or principal they might possess, every situation becomes a serious event. In real life too it is not one single event which causes the misery people face in relationships but a cascade of many small ones, all backed by bad decisions. This was an engrossing episode and as usual I am excited for next week. How will Zaib and Rayaan connect? I am desperate to know..Perhaps it’s just me, but after watching a few of Samira Fazal’s dramas I am expecting a sudden twist in the story soon.
