Is it me or is there anyone else that finds Natasha’s confusion a little distasteful? Last week she checked off every” what not to do” on the list for new Brides and then spent most of this episode pouting too. She seemed quite ready to throw her new rishta to Bilal to the winds and run of with her ex-boyfriend Yawer, till it turned out he might actually have some qualms about running off with someone else’s wife. When Zaib finally comes home from her social work and a few home truths are spoken, Natasha finally realizes she is being a bit of a fool and asks Bilal, whom she has been ignoring all morning, to come and pick her up. I wonder if Natasha would have been less confused about her feelings if she had not supposed herself in love with Yawer and it really was a matter of “supposed’. The real revelation of the episode was Natasha telling Bilal it was Zaib he had spoken to on the phone. I just loved the way the older siblings were shown trying to protect and advise their younger brother, the chemistry between all three actors is great .Rayaan gave the best advice by trying to see it from the Zaib and Natasha‘s point of view while I could only smile at their sister’s claim that she had never lied in her life.
Zaib is also going through a rough patch in her non relationship with Mikaal. I know Phupo is an interfering old biddy who doesn’t know when to hold her tongue but even a stopped clock is right two times a day. When she confronts Mikaal about his intentions towards Zaib, it was clumsy but fairly accurate to me. Zaib, however is incensed enough to finally send the old lady packing. I hope we don’t lose Parveen Akber permanently from the show she was simply brilliant. Who doesn’t have a relative like that? I have a feeling the Mikaal is again not serious when at the end of the episode he says he has ‘spoken to his mother’. Both sisters seem to have wasted their time with Yawer and Mikaal.
I have to say Natasha and Zaib’s confrontation scene got a bit confusing for me, it could have been the quality of the sound in my version of the episode or just that neither sister knows what they want really. They know each other so well but or not willing to forgive each other anything. One of the sweetest moments was when Natasha said she could never be as good as Zaib and Bilal actually spends time reassuring her she is the one he wanted. Danyal Raheel is really good as that rare younger brother used to compromising and listening to his elder siblings. Normally the youngest is the most spoiled. Now, I ask you, is it fair that they keep dangling Adeel Hassan in front of us and then taking him away? So far he has little to do but I am desperate to know how his connection to Zaib will be made, because so far it looks next to impossible. I am getting a little tired of this “going nowhere fast” Mikaal /Zaib track, I just hope it wraps up soon. Despite the sharp, witty dialogues which are so much a hallmark of Samira Fazal‘s dramas the narrative was a lot slower this episode and a little repetitious. None the less it was an enjoyable episode and I am looking forward to moving on from Natasha’s wedding.
