What a great episode, it really ended too soon for me. By the end of the first half I thought I was watching a PSA on “What not to do at your own wedding” or “Yeh mat karna beti ”. First rule: no ghosts should be at the party. Yawer should not have found his way there and Phupo should not have run upstairs to explain how much of a better match he was for Natasha. Next, if Natasha wanted a Mehendi or mayoon, the evening of her Nikkah was a little late to complain about it to her already tense mother. Then, if your mother in law or indeed anyone is disabled it is no big deal if you accommodate them and climb off the stage to greet them. In fact it would make you a better person if you went along with their family dynamic and ate the kheer your sister in law made to welcome you. Again if you see your new husband being respectful of his elder brother and mother that should not set off a turf war in your mind, instead it should make you respect him and the people who raised him even more. Last and biggest thing’ not to do’ is not forgiving your husband on your wedding night or ignoring him in a fit of pique at supposedly being ignored yourself. I suppose running back to your parents’ home early in the morning without telling your husband isn’t a good idea either but those seem to be few and far between in Natasha’s head.
I have to say I was very impressed with Mira Sethi who carried this whole thing so well. I can hardly believe she is new to acting. I was equally impressed with Danyal Raheel who was quite adorable in his conviction that Natasha thought only of him. Both are doing fabulous job. We also learn that Rayaan is actually married to Majabeen and has a son. His introduction to Zaib does not go well as she manages to push all the wrong buttons , asking where Natasha and Bilal will live may have been her major blunder. It seems Rayaan and Bilal‘s family are rather tight knit and live together, which is not that unusual for newlyweds in the USA or UK. It will be interesting to see how Rayaan actually connects with Zaib, who from the promos seems destined to marry him.
What a fitna that Phupo is, first she plays with Natasha’s mind on her wedding day and then wakes her exhausted brother and sister-in-law up to the next day with the shocking revelation that their eldest daughter has run off in the early hours of the morning. In fact Zaib has gone with Mikaal to help a young bully form last week’s episode who has committed suicide. Zaib is so full of understanding for this young man’s problems saying there must be something lacking in his life that makes him so insecure. The viewer is left wondering when she will use this knowledge to repair her relationship with her sister Natasha, who is on the path of self-destruction in this unending competition between them. Amna Shaikh is such wonderful actress; she seems to share a great chemistry with all the actors around her. Zaib and Mikaal almost make a great couple …almost but not quite. I must not forget to praise Vassey Chauhdry who has done a great job with Mikaal; in fact this whole serial is marked by actors who play their roles seamlessly. Add to this great direction and we have a winning combination every week.
