Natasha and Bilal are getting married and it should be cause for celebration but both sisters are pouting and alternately sulking in corners. Zaib is upset, because her little plan backfired and now she feels left on the shelf with nothing on the horizon. Natasha is confused, because she only wants what Zaib wants but that too, only at the time of Zaib wanting it. I was laughing out loud at how the well-worn star crossed lovers’ scenario was so easily turned on its head by Natasha and her knife wielding Romeo. It should have been utterly unbelievable: how the supposed fires of unrelenting passion were suddenly doused by Natasha’s very practical “sacrifice”. One of the best scenes so far, both actors were marvelous and carried it off so well.
Mikaal was flirting with Zaib and you could see she so wishes to believe him but is smart enough not to. That teasing half-romantic banter is designed to keep her dangling without any commitment on his part. While their parents are arranging the match and ordering clothes Natasha is busy wondering what the catch is. How could Zaib have “given “her Bilal there must be something wrong with him? So when in fit of romantic playfulness, Bilal tells her he is not quite the affluent American as they had been led to believe, Natasha thinks she has the answer. One thing that did surprise me was the way Zaib covered up Natasha’s not so romantic escapade in front of their Phupo. Zaib may not dislike Natasha as much as either of them thinks.
I loved the Nand /Bhabi action throughout this drama, it seems it never ends no matter how old we get. Whatever happens and no matter who is responsible Phupo will find a way to blame her Bhabi Durdana. The senior cast is simply amazing and their interactions just interesting as the younger ones.
The story did not move much further than Bilal and Natasha’s rishta but at least we finally got to see Adeel Hassan, who plays Rayaan. Bilal’s mother calls her eldest son Rayaan in America to share the good news of his younger brother’s engagement asking him to come as soon as possible. With his arrival, I suspect the plot will not only thicken but become even more interesting. I really enjoyed this week’s episode and it is a welcome change to see normal people on screen, with normal problems. The whole story line was expertly interwoven and not a scene wasted. Great direction, great acting and true to life characters whose actions we may not always like but can easily understand. I have to admit I was happily reminded of the interplay between the characters of my favourite Kuch Pyar Ka Pagalpan, I wonder if anyone else was?
