Silvatein Episode 14

Despite all her denials Zaib quite clearly wants to marry Rayaan . This whole thing could be over in five minutes, nothing but the proverbial storm in a teacup but though I hate to attribute anything positive to Natasha , she is qute right , Zaib wants to marry Rayaan . The fact that Rayaan wants to marry Zaib is crystal clear. Each time he considers it in a sensible manner whether with Muneeze or on his own he realises what a foolish idea it is but as soon as he confronts Zaib all sense seems to fly out the window. It was so cute the way he and Zaib where wandering around the apartment arguing and making tea for each other like some old married couple. The chemistry between Amina and Adeel is electric and it really blots out the relationship between Zaib and Mikaal . I felt bad for Mikaal for about five seconds today, then I thought he has saved himself a lot of trouble.

Rayaan is clearly smitten , I loved the way he brought that plate of noodles to  Zaib and the way he quietly gets Zaib to admit what a good rishta he is.  Then he reassures himself that Zaib is not interested in his money, then he keeps teasing out the reason Zaib will not directly refuse the rishta. This is probably what makes them a good match. Zaib is a headstrong , confident woman but she actually respects Rayaan and cares about other people’s feelings and opinions. I know Rayaan said Zaib was being domineering and bossing him around but I get the feeling he was actually enjoying their sparring but did not spare Zaib’s feelings in any way and stood his ground. Adeel Hussain  ( Sorry I have been spelling  Hussain  wrong for some time ) and Amina scenes were a an absolute pleasure to watch . Their acting was subtle and nuanced , conveying just the right message to the viewer at every instant .

I wish I could just get it over with and SLAP Natasha , it really would save me a lot of money on blood pressure medication . She is so self centered and incredibly annoying that  Bilal should just divorce her right now. I kind of felt sorry for Bilal last week but this week I am thinking Iss sey ziyada koi beghairat banda kiya hoga..? I mean the woman has admitted she had a relationship with Yawer, she is accusing you of having a soft corner for her sister , insults you in every way possible and yet you are worried about losing HER good opinion. Full marks to Danyal Raheel for bringing this character to life but I still cannot stand to watch too many of  these scenes. As I keep saying it is going to be very hard for Natasha to come back and now I am beginning to think perhaps Mira  has overplayed her hand in this . Natasha is supposedly the victim of Zaib’s competitive nature and full of complexes but that is not how she comes across. There seems to be little or no vulnerability or softness to Natasha’s character and she does not come across as a person with an injured heart or damaged psyche. As far as I can see Natasha has no positive interaction with any character in this drama.  Dilaver on the the other hand managed to convey that he was a victim of his circumstances and history despite being a violent delinquent .

I loved Muneese telling her off again … dil ko tandak aur sakoon milla .  Maheen Rizvi was again quite perfect as the one sensible person in this whirlwind of conflicts .The great thing about this serial is that we can see where all  the character’s problems are in general coming from. Bilal doesn’t want to be the second divorce, Rayaan is lonely and sensitive after his divorce, but the real source of trouble for this entire family is everyone’s favorite Mother in law played so well by Shameem Hilali. She is told of the rishta by Zaib’s parents and accepts immediately, she is not worried about her sons and their happiness at all. When Muneese calls her she immediately tells her daughter off . If she had perhaps set Natasha a little straight then some of this might not be happening . Durdana is an even worse mother, all she can think of is the resolution to her problems of marrying Zaib off, or her ladli Natasha . When she accuses her husband of being over friendly with the wheel chair bound Samdan I was immediately reminded of Natasha.

Well the episode ended with what I think is Rayaan convincing Zaib to accept his proposal because this sudden act of altruism is going to give her a chance to improve her relationship with Natasha…A little birdie tells me Sub kuch itna ehsaan nahin hai.If she really wanted to make it up with Natasha all she had to do was  book her ticket to Pakistan and mend her fences slowly but then she would not see much of a certain good looking divorcee living in New York. the director ,Shehrazade Shaikh has done amazingly well so far keeping up with Samira Fazal’s frenetic script must have been a task in itself . It could so easily have been boring portraying so many conversation on  interior sets but the pace is so fast, the editing ,so seamless the viewer hardly notices. The whole team has done a great job of making  the house seem like it is in New York , sometimes the grey marble in the kitchen gives it away but otherwise; as I said seamless .
