Oh. My. God.
I’m still reeling from shock! There can be only one rational explanation to this – Quickly someone alert the X files folks – Samira Fazal has been abducted by aliens and her body and mind been taken over by a parasitical life form that is making her write such absolute tripe! Someone save her! Clearly she is in a galaxy far far away.
I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. I was staring incredulous at the screen that all this was really unfolding while really really waiting for one of them to wake up from a bad dream! All that build up to in the previous episodes has been for naught.
I retract all and any praise that I lauded on Sania. I thought she was a strong, independent-minded woman with a sense of self-assuredness and dignity to handle what life threw at her. She has steadily declined to silent suffering stereotype and now totally degenerated into mazloom aurat who God help me, can’t even open an envelope without ‘Sham.
Character is truly revealed in adversity and her character has practically crumbled. All her grand standing was and is just hot air. Anytime she utters Mein yaha se chali jaongi I want to stuff her suitcases and show her the door or more honestly just tell her to stuff it since she is unable to do anything without a man. This is practically a slap in the face to single mothers out there.
‘Sham. Dear God. What the what?! He’s in love with the woman he’s rescued. Let me marry thee and take thee out of misery that my wife- you know, the one I am still married too, inflicted on you! Knight in shining armor complex much? Clearly the way to his heart is a few warm lunches and dependent woman. I sincerely believed this drama was not going to take this kind of turn.
I thought that the scene with him and Seherish was actually an opening for reconciliation and turning things around. I must say a lot of the dialogue sounded very much like translating English into Urdu which I have to admit am guilty of myself, but in the parlance of my once home town – Yucks Men! Yes, that bad.
That whole “think about it” line was more like – Hey do you want plain cheese pizza or veggie delux? Think about it, which clearly means the span of one evening. You have to wonder how much of a vacuum these characters (and their creators) live in to pass this off as credible.
We’ve been praising the fast pace of this drama, but this was totally ridiculous. Let’s speed through any attempt at actually making a dent in saving my marriage, while I play savior, try and contain my emotions (physical and otherwise – I truly thought he was going in for a peck!) and make you see that you love me too! And marriage! Yay! Please! I gave ‘Sham more credit that he too deserved.
Which leaves poor Sherish who I suspect, rather know, will turn into the weeping, desperate returned postage wife who will beg for a place in his life. All the actors – Sanam, Adeel and Aisha are playing to the script but with such a turn of events, am more turned off than anything else.
My stomach churns though am sure whatever contents I spew will be more creative than the tying of loose ends in this tangled twaddle.
