Hat trick! Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better – it does. This well-executed episode had it all – excellent pacing, good story telling, taut tension build up, noteworthy performances and my Rumi even got a milkshake, a hug and a kiss! Was someone listening?
As I said earlier, all the characters are communicating though not listening to on another. I am glad the writer and director decided to follow that thread and not drop it. ‘Seherish decamps to her mother’s home who gives her some sensible advice and gets the bickering couple to sort things out.
In the sweetest make up scene to date, ‘Sham and Seherish clear the air, admit their mistakes, and promise not to keep any more secrets. You can see Seherish’s insecurities surfacing but ‘Sham, never one to blame his wife, assures her of his love for her and tells her the honest truth about her gossip monger ‘friend’. Also progressive points for zero blame game on childless issue.
Their car scene was also adorable. It felt like Seherish was moving beyond her shakki self. Adeel and Aisha share great on-screen chemistry and make their characters and their predicaments very real and relatable.
The other couple Sania and Ali seem to be faring better too. Ali’ sternness is softening to reveal an appreciation for his wife’s hard work as well as love for his son. Scene stealer of the year of course, goes to Rumi in an endearing performance starring Rumi, Ali and the ever important ball. And did I mention he got hugs and kisses this time! Hat tip to the editor for splicing this scene it in a way that created build up and brought a much needed smile to our faces.
All meanwhile was not well. You have to wonder when Seherish’s trust towards ‘Sham took a backseat to Mahum’s steam rolling. While she knew ‘Sham and Sania were going to be working at the mall, why the need to spy on them? And really how was any of it inappropriate behavior is beyond me.
Mahum though is well cast as a modern hawhain version of the gossipy aunty and technically savvy too. And Seherish beware the words that seem to accidentally slip out of her mouth are precisely the action she advocates. And then calmly zoom away.
The last scene practically played out as a theatre performance. The dialogues added to the tension and drama. Talhiyaan talhiyaan!
Maybe we got a respite for now, but tensions are building and appetites whetted. More please!
