It was quite obvious that Humsafar, by and large, had over-shadowed Shadi Mubarak in the same time slot. However, it did not deserve the unfair treatment it got at the hands of both the production house (which advertised the wrong time slot on Facebook) or the channel (which did not telecast the episode for a whole week and waited for KPKP to end before airing the fresh episode at its time slot). So anyway, I finally caught episode 8 and thought I’d review the previous two and current one together.
I must say the only reason I am watching this drama serial is the character of Saadat Begum AND the Saadi/Faraz chemistry. Sadly, there have been no Saadi/Faraz scenes lately, though Saadat Begum is up to her tricks – “forgetting” to take the bari. Honestly!
I am also looking forward to Saadi-Saadat clash but for the past three episodes I have been waiting and waiting for the wedding to start. Honestly, if ever there was a wedding in which everything goes wrong, this is one: the Mehendi lady winds up in the hospital, and the photographer lands another event. As someone who has paid hefty advance sums to photographers before the weddings, this bit was incredulous. How can the photographer ditch you and go to another event especially if you have paid?
I think the story of the drama serial is mainly lost through so many characters, half of whom are over-acting. In Akbari Asghari, the character of Phuppo Batool stood out but Mami Manchester and Khala Chaklala are collectively getting on my nerves. Even the scenes of Papoo the servant and the cousins’ gang seem pointless. They are simply dragging the drama serial and boring us to death, especially when at least I want to see some more excitement in the form of Saadat’s clash with Saadi’s family, or at least, how Saadi tries to run the house or even how she develops her relationship with Faraz. Unfortunately, as the Mayun has not even started, I don’t think we will get to see the real story any time soon.
