Another emotionally charged and absolutely flawless episode. Gohar was murdered as a result of a conspiracy but the plotting, planning and conspiracies did not end with his death. The motive behind the murder was covered up or atleast Saif Ur Rehman’s wife tried to cover it up.
Gohar’s family is unaware of his activities which is quite strange. His friends knew about it and definitely there would be other people who knew about it, his father was suspicious but even he didn’t know what Gohar was upto.
The culture portrayed in the drama is weird in so many ways. Saif Ur Rehman murdered Gohar only because of suspicion and he was even willing to kill his own sister because of that suspicion. But when it came to facing the consequences, he wasn’t afraid to admitting why he killed Gohar and was willing to die but as soon as his wife brought up his property, his land and his house, he took a 180 degrees turn. Apparently his land and property is more important than the life and reputation of his sister. If he hadn’t killed Gohar, people’s tongues wouldn’t start wagging but he did it anyways and now Shireen has to face the punishment of a sin she didn’t even commit. It was heartbreaking when she said ” paagal nahi, badnaam ho gaie hoon “. She knows her life will never be the same again.
I can’t help but wish Shireen had never made friends with Durkhani, I know she never meant to harm Shireen but it was thanks to her carelessness that Shireen got into this mess. Now her entire family will have to face the consequences of Durkhani’s little fling. Also What did Shireen hope to achieve by admitting to her bhabi’s khala that she had indeed had an affair with Gohar Khan ? Did she think by doing so she would not have to marry her son ? Did she not realize that this would Put the stamp of approval on all the rumors ? Or does she not care anymore?
The conspiracies haven’t ended yet. Saif Ur Rehman’s wife is no less than Tora Khan, he had a score to settle with his uncle and his family but this woman is willing to get people killed just to satisfy her ego. Even after Gohar’s death and her husband’s near death experience, she is still busy playing games . Now she can always rub Shireen’s apparent affair in her husband’s face and at the same time marry her off in her own family to make her mami happy. She thinks she is in control and can easily manipulate this situation but things might not turn out as she has planned. Gulistan Khan is a sood-Khor but he may not be satisfied with a piece of land.
Gulistan Khan and Shameem’s performance was heartbreaking. They have lost their son so suddenly and are still trying to figure out why ? Gulistan Khan still hasn’t let his guard down, he is a man and men don’t cry in public nor do they show any weakness. He would not let his daughter cry out loud, is say bay-pardggi hoti hai. He knows something very strange is going on and that Tora knows more than he is revealing but still is not willing to wait and find out the truth. He wants revenge. Aurang is the only voice of reason, he wants to get to the bottom of things before things get out of hand but his reason is taken as buzdalli. Again Shameem is the one who needs him and cries at his shoulder, she only cried when she saw Aurang, the one person she can open her heart to. Noman Ijaz and Sania Saeed are brilliant as always, their performance were flawless.
” Baigairat aurat ka qatal kerna gaown k her Mard per wajib hai ” the concept of gairat is complicated even twisted. It reminded me of ” Salem Witch Hunt ” , once you are declared a witch, there is nothing you can do but admit to being a witch. Shireen is in the same position, no one is willing to listen to her, no one believes her, even Durkhani’s confession won’t save her now.
Jirga has received Saif Ur Rehman’s testimony and hopefully they will come up with a solution before Gulistan Khan takes the law in his own hands. But Saif Ur Rehman has not given them the whole truth and in the absence of the actual facts, the jirga could come with a very different solution, maybe Khoon Baha , maybe Shireen’s rishta.
