Khey Se Khurram, Ray se Rukhsaana aur Meem se Mohabbat! True Love doesn’t have a happy ending- because true love never ends! Mein uski tarhan nahin houn, Mera rutbah Chota hai… 27 weeks later, the epic saga comes to an end. All of us hope for happy endings, for it is hope that keeps us going. At 27 episodes, Sadqay Tumharey was definitely stretched beyond an acceptable number of episodes. The story that started off on a strong note turned into one of a personal vendetta- the writer lived up to the quote- The pen is mightier than the sword. I can’t help but wonder what Shano would think of him if she lived long enough to witness her personal story reduced to shreds. I personally feel the best tribute he could have given to her was his silence- iss se Bari beadhbi kya ho sakti hai?
Life goes on and I’ll say one thing- the last episode wrapped the story up nicely. The end was always predictable but I really liked how believable it seemed. Khalil moved on and married Ruby; Shano bowed down to her mother’s decision- it is evident that Rasheeda was completely obsessed with showing Shano who’s the boss! But did she really gain anything by harbouring hatred all these years? She was estranged from her family and a source of embarrassment to them, had a failed marriage because she never accepted that her engagement was over and as a consequence, a sorry excuse for a mother.
Sadqay Tumharey had its fair share of ups and downs. The story was constantly moving along albeit a little too slowly but the exceptional direction made it a visual treat. Each episode had a treasure of quotable quotes that are the trademark of the genius of Khalil ur Rehman. While it wasn’t free from flaws, it kept us hooked . It’s hard to ignore the on-screen chemistry between Adnan Malik and Mahira Khan. Speaking of chemistry, I think Sadqay Tumharey was one of those rare dramas where the casting has been spot on. Samiya Mumtaz proved her versatility by taking on a negative role and succeeding in making the audience hate her. Mahira Khan has definitely come a long way from her Neeyat days but for me, Adnan Malik was the real find. This tall, dark and handsome newbie renewed our faith in manly men and I sincerely hope such men inspire others to accept that there are differences between the two genders and that’s the way God made us! I’m looking at all of you make-up wearing actors!! Before I sign off, did anyone else notice Ruby referring to Khelu as Chandu Ji?!? Ab iskey peechey Kya raaz hai Aur Kya ispey Kahaani Likhi jasakti hai?!?
P.S. Did anyone keep track of the thappar count? Or the “Naa Maaro Ammi Ji”?
