Sadqay Tumharey- Episode 20 Review

The more that I see Rasheeda and Amin, the more I’m convinced that Amin is truly a noble man who not only accepted his wife’s past but continues to live with the constant, painful reminders. Yet, he shows no signs of bad blood and still respects his in-laws. I think Shano has definitely taken her father’s good traits and that is why she still sees good in people. Bi Ji leaves no opportunity to show Rasheeda the mirror but Rasheeda is so full of herself, she has no sense of right or wrong- Tujhe meri baddua se darr nahin lagta? No matter how much your children may trouble you, mothers refrain from cursing their own. Rasheeda curses her children like they weren’t her own. The main reason for her frustration is her lack of faith in God- and her belief that she is entitled to happiness in the form of being with Abdul Rehman. I find it appalling that she constantly refers to being a paanch bachon ki maa but not once does she behave like a mother. She is eternally trapped in the mind of a 15 year old who refuses to accept that life goes on.

When Amin and Rasheeda came to plead their case with Bi Ji, they were sure they could convince her to let Shano go with them. Abdul Rehman stood his ground and Bi Ji shared his views. Amin tried to manipulate the situation in his favour by bringing up how Pa Ji Abdul Rehman had suggested he wanted to reunite with Rasheeda but Rasheeda hurriedly left the scene. I can’t imagine how Shano must be feeling knowing that her mother shamelessly lies about such things and till date holds a torch for her ex-fiance.

As usual, Rasheeda played the victim card and managed to convince Amin that she was innocent and insisted that he brings Shano back even if he has to take a false oath. Amin did what he had to do but he seemed far more sincere- I think deep down Amin knows that his wife is not a trustworthy woman but he continues to live in denial. Love has the tendency to blind the best of us. What I have liked about Shano is her empathy towards to her parents. She tries to put up a strong front but she truly loves her parents and respects them. She has been repeatedly abused by her mother but she doesn’t intend to humiliate them. She just wants to be with the man she loves and a man she grew up loving thanks to the constant reminders of her bachpan ki mangni. I don’t know why Rasheeda had to exploit her own daughter if she wanted to even the score with Inayat. She could’ve spared Shano the agony by keeping this supposed mangni quiet. I don’t understand how a mother could detest her children so much that she would try and negotiate her own happiness through their misery.

The promo for next week looks exciting- I doubt Khalil and Humaira are having an affair. If anything, Humaira might be fantasizing about Khalil since she too has been hearing so much about him. Bi Ji seems confident that Shano will be getting married soon but I doubt that’s in the cards for them. Let’s see what happens next…
