Qismat ki agar photo nikal aye toh dekhna bilkul meri maa jaisi hogi… Na qismat badal sakti hai aur na meri maa badal sakti hai… Shano has realized that Rasheeda marti marjayegi par shadi nahin honay degi. Humaira shed some light on what transpired after Shano ran away- sab kuch unkey plan ke mutaabiq horaha tha… Shano regrets returning home especially having come so close to being with Khalil- bas qubool hai kehna baqi reh gaya tha! Rasheeda had succeeded in preventing the nikah from taking place. Shano knew her mother only too well but still, hearing her sister’s panic-stricken pleas, she left the masjid in the midst of her nikah. This was the opportunity Rasheeda was waiting for- she knew she could emotionally blackmail Khalil under such circumstances. And that’s exactly what Khalil did- vadey ka bara pakka hai wohh...
Khalil handed himself in to police custody- Mushtaq saw the passion in Khalil and Shano’s love and withdrew from the scene himself. But his father decided to settle the score and used his authority to try and intimidate Khalil. Seeing that he wasn’t getting affected by the torture, Thanedaar Sahab asked Amin to convince his daughter to give a testimony in court that would help put away Khalil for a number of years.
As usual, Amin and Rasheeda tried to manipulate Shano and used their izzat as an excuse. Shano knows that her mother had masterminded the entire situation and also knows that her father is too blind to see through her games. She agreed to appear in court on the condition that her father would give her his word that he would not force her to get married to anyone. Shano may not be as devious as Rasheeda but she has definitely learnt a thing or two about how to swing things in her favour.
At the court, Shano gave her honest recount of the events that actually transpired including her mother’s jhoot moot ki phansi and requested the court to allow her to live with her naani. Hearing her testimony, the judge ruled in her favour and asked both parties to allow a period of 2- 3 years until both Shano and Khalil have finished their education before they can get married. While Nani was relieved to have Shano with her, she knows Rasheeda won’t rest until she takes Shano back. While I was glad to see things being sorted out, I was surprised at the ruling- after all both Khalil and Shano are of the legal age of marriage and they are entitled to it both by religion and law. Why then, was the judge adamant that there be a waiting period before they can get married?
Once again, Mahira Khan was just brilliant as Shano and our angry young man, Adnan Malik has completely won me over as Khalil Baadshah. I melt everytime he mentions ehteraam when Shano’s name comes up. KuR has the power to immortalize his characters and he’s doing a splendid job with Khalil and Shano. 19 weeks later, Sadqay Tumharey continues to be on my must-watch list despite a few flaws which I’m more than willing to overlook for the sake of a beautiful and mesmerizing experience.
