Iss mohabbat ke do hi anjaam hosaktey hein- court marriage karlo ya phir bechar ke marr jao… Khalil hints at the impending doom that is likely going to be their destiny. Mujhe lagta hai bechar ke marna asaan hai, tumhari tauheen karna bohut mushkil hai! What I have loved about both Pyarey Afzal and Sadqay Tumharey is the portrayal of a male protagonist who respects the woman they love beyond their wildest imagination yet at the same time, they uphold their haya and izzat above all else. Khalil and Shano have an unspoken understanding of one another and even though they have been alone plenty of times, they maintain an invisible boundary of respect- mere haya ke rakhwalay ho aap... Humaira’s cousin Mazhar who was mesmerized by Shano’s singing made the mistake of approaching her. After taking her home, Khalil was determined to settle the score with Mazhar- Tumhe koi buri nazar se dekhe toh dekhey hi kyun? I had almost expected the Maa ke badmaash to charge straight at Mazhar but instead of letting his hands do the talking, Khalil remained calm and composed and simply asked him to back off- Pyaar karney waley tumhari duniya ke log nahin hain… Tumhe zindagi pyaari hai, mujhe zindagi pyari nahin, wohh pyari hai…
Shano was waiting with increasing trepidation for Khalil’s return and was relieved when he came safe and unharmed. Seeing Shano and Khalil together puts me in a trance. The pair are an absolute delight- be it Shano’s sharmaana or Khalil’s muskuraana, these two are the highlight of every episode. The writing has been brilliant and the direction has taken it up a few notches but the acting has been phenomenal. Mohabbat mein bas nahin chalta par nikah toh ikhtyaar mein hota hai- aur iska ikhtiyaar maa baap ke paas hota hai. Khalil never seriously considered eloping with Shano but mentioned it half-heartedly. As much as Shano wants to be with Khalil, she knows she could never shame her parents for the sake of her own happiness and that is yet another beautiful aspect of their relationship.
Rasheeda continues abusing Shano (both physically and verbally) Yahan kharey hokay mitti paleed na kar! Khalil rests by the front door and Shano has another ilhaam and goes out to find him in a frozen stupor. After he leaves, Shano spends the night on the roof in the freezing cold. Dil mein aya ke raat sardi mein behti rahoun toh shayad Rabb mujhse raazi hojaye… Magar raazi kaise hotay, meri toh subha ki namaaz nikal gayi… I love Shano’s faith in God- her love for Khalil doesn’t distract her from her ibaadat. Khalu Ameen returns home only to be manipulated by Rasheeda again- rassi galey mein daalo gay to maan jaye gi… Rasheeda knows that Shano will never go against her parents wishes but she wants to ensure that she stays in control of the entire situation. A false alarm sets the house topsy- turvy and Rasheeda assumes Shano has taken off with Khalil. When Khalo Ameen finds Khalil, he starts hitting him until Khalil reminds him that Shano is his flesh and blood and she would never do anything to tarnish her family’s reputation- Mein apki beti ka etheraam karta houn Khalu Ji, Yakeen karta houn… If only her parents had the same faith in her that Khalil does.
I know it’s wishful thinking but I was really hoping that Ameen would take a stand for his daughter seeing her suffering. Rasheeda is a vile woman who has no control over her words and refers to her children in the worst way possible. I truly wish Ameen would put an end to her madness but it seems like there’s no stopping this woman. The preview for next week shows Rasheeda making moves on her Abdul Rehman BhaJi. Incestuous much?
