Jisko beti kehrahi ho, kya wohh sach mein beti hai tumari??? How many times has this thought crossed our mind? Rasheeda is behaving like anything but a mother. Granted, she is still fuming mad over the past and although we were shown a glimpse of it today, there are still a few missing pieces of the puzzle. In a brief flashback which I must say was very nicely done, Inayat who was pregnant with her 5th child (Khelu) caught her underage sister Rasheeda with her first husband- Sadiq. Rasheeda was apologetic but Inayat almost expected something like this was bound to happen and arranged for her to leave with Abdul Rehman. We know that Abdul Rehman opted to marry Inayat instead of his mangaitar but we still don’t know why. The flashback may not have exposed much but it did seem that whatever transpired between Rasheeda and Sadiq was with her consent. Rasheeda clearly regrets losing Abdul Rehman but not once does she regret her role in creating this whole mess.
Rasheeda is the kind of person who do not take ownership of their actions but lead their lives blaming others for their misery. It’s no surprise that the hate she harbours reflects in her words so much so that even a complete stranger wonders if she is suffering through an illness. It may not be a physical ailment but Rasheeda is clearly suffering from some sort of a mental illness. Once again, I really liked how they showed that the peer Rasheeda went to did not misguide her. Desperate times call for desperate measures and Rasheeda thinks a taweez will rid her of her problems- Taweez se ishq nahin rukhta! Jo tumne bataya hai wohh bhi maine pehli baar suna hai!
Khalil has embarked on a spiritual journey through his realization of love. Shano has definitely been a positive influence on him and has forced him to rethink his life choices. The once carefree and arrogant Khalil now spends his time in prostration. Tumhara khayaal ayega toh Khuda ko jalaal ajayega! Abdul Rehman realizes that this isn’t any typical scenario of a young man falling hopelessly in love- koi rooh ka sanjhogg hai… Despite being a step-father, Abdul Rehman is more compassionate towards Khalil than Shano’s real mother is towards her. She knows how to play her cards right and aggravates Khalil by using derogatory references for Shano- Kehte hongay kanjaron ka ghar hai; roz Lahore se ek larka ata hai, inki beti se milta hai, Bhai ko 10 rupay dalaali ke deta hai aur chala jaata hai! I don’t know how much longer Khalil will put up with Rasheeda- does this woman have a death wish??? Ab apna gham bata bhi do Khala Ji!
Upon Shano’s insistence, Khalil stayed back to attend Humairi ke bhai ki mehendi. The scenes between Khalil and Shano are the ones I anxiously anticipate and they never disappoint. In typical Khalil-ur-Rehman style, the dialogues were loaded with symbolic references to Khuda and mohabbat. Khalil and Shano definitely set the screen on fire- these two look so good together I can’t take my eyes off them. It was nice to know that the reason why Molvi Sahab supports Khalil and Shano stems from his own experiences of love- mohabbat mein jab ek marta hai toh dosra shadi nahin karsakta! The last few minutes were dedicated to the song and dance at the mehendi and Shano did the honours. As much as I liked the song earlier, having heard the song for the third time I’m honestly getting a little irritated. After Fayyaz Bha Ji, Shano has a new admirer- one that will most likely end up with broken bones if our Khalil has his way. Mohabbat kar putra, tang na kar! Tang ka toh pata nahin magar kisi ki taangey zaroor tootein gein!!!
