Sadqay Tumbarey- Episode 24 Review

After a disappointing episode last week, the story hasn’t managed to recover with the exception of less touchy-feely moments. That said, Rasheeda continues hating on everyone around her and dreams of the time when she will be rid of Amin and rekindle her childhood romance. Taking Dr. Masood’s advice, Shano tried to convince Khalil to leave- a part of her feels sorry for her mother’s pain and maybe even blames Khalu Abdul Rehman for causing such destruction in their lives. Khalil knew of his mother’s divorce and his Khala Rasheeda’s engagement but Shano added some more pages in his book of knowledge. I find it odd that Shano knows so much inside information – she narrated these gruesome details to Molvi Sahab in one of the earlier episodes and she did the same with Khalil. First of all, how authentic are her details? What was her source of information? And assuming they are authentic, why isn’t she covering them up instead of digging deeper?

Khalil is still perplexed over Humaira’s peer stories and he returned the favor by saving Humaira’s thaska. Thankfully, we were spared the jhappis. Humaira’s obsession is growing in leaps and bounds. She confessed her one-sided love to her mother and that slap across her face was just what the doctor ordered. What irritates me to no end is the constant equating of mohabbat with Ibaadat or as Shano says “puja“. Be it Rasheeda, Shano or Humaira, all the women have been in the same state of “puja“. I admired Shano’s strength of character and her belief in God but her comparisons over the past few episodes have diluted the effect they once had. The Mazaars, peers and Pujas are concepts that are so far off, they’ve lost me completely.

So Abdul Rehman returned to his bhuddi biwi who tells him to negotiate with Rasheeda- she’s ready to trade her husband of many years for her son’s happiness that lies in being with Shano. Meanwhile, Khalil is split between his love for Shano and his doubts over what Humaira suggested…

I really think this play should end – we’ve witnessed far more than we ever imagined we would get to see. What started off as a memorable love story has been through such turmoil, I really just want them to end it . I don’t care if Khalil ends up with Humaira or any random woman, I don’t want to know anymore. I’ve been let down by Sadqay Tumharey in the worst way possible and I doubt it has any redeeming qualities left for the viewers. The story has completely gone under but I must say the performances have been consistent week after week and Mahira Khan and Adnan Malik have given it their all. Kudos to the brilliant actors for doing their part.
