My doubts about Najma’s “love” for Shafique, proved to be right after all. I find Najma’s character very interesting, she is not negative in the true sense of the word since she did not plan to “break-up” with Shafique, she was quite happy living her rickshaw dream but then Anjay came along out of nowhere and he showered her with gifts that Shafique could never give her and Najma was convinced easily enough. Najma does not take anything in life too seriously and her attitude towards her relationship with Shafique was no different. The poor man went all out to buy a rickshaw for his girl and all he got in return was rejection.
Anjay is not just a con artist but also has a way with women! I was very sure that the peer’s advice to Rafique to not let his wife come near him must have more to it and there we have it; Anjay is getting “closer” to Sakina and Rafique won’t let her near him. Anjay brings Sakina groceries, hears what she has to say and has started complementing her too; something brand new for Sakina since her husband always makes fun of her looks. Sakina like Rafique and Najma is proving to be an easy target, thanks to Anjay’s plotting and planning. What I like about Sakina’s character is that no matter how much Rafique puts her down or abuses her, the woman does speak her mind and nothing can stop her. She is not your regular docile wife who would put up with abuse without saying a word. Does that change the way things are? Absolutely not! But it gives the viewer an insight into Sakina’s mind. For the past two episodes or so there are plenty of scenes with her in them and I am quite happy with that. For a change we also got to see Rafique’s eldest daughter’s reaction to something that is happening in the house when she asks Anjay to leave.
Anjay and the fake peer raised the stakes for Rafique and asked him to get a huge amount of money if he wants his Sabz Pari, Rafique though reluctant in the beginning but later decides to sell his rickshaw on Anjay’s advice.
Maleeha’s doctor tells her that someone had been drugging her and that was the cause of her miscarriage. Maleeha once again leaves home and asks Arham to get a house since she does not feel safe with his mother. But before Maleeha could tell Arham anything his mom already tells him that Maleeha took these drugs on purpose and guess what Arham does? He goes and gets himself some drugs of course. This ought to be the typical behavior of a drug addict.
I was really hoping that Najma won’t let Shafique down but Anjay was too strong a contender, Shafique stood no chance against him. The Najma-Shafique track for me was the lighter, fun part of this play and as of today that is dead and buried and turned into yet another sad story. I would have liked it better if Anjay would not have taken over everyone’s life, what he was doing with Rafique was enough to substantiate him as the bad guy. It would have been better if Shafique and Najma got together and we saw how Shafique struggled to survive like a man with Najma in his life.
Today’s episode left me with nothing but heartfelt sympathy for Shafique and I am waiting to find out how he deals with Najma’s rejection and his brother’s recent “adventure”.
