Zhalay Sarhadi totally outdid herself in today’s episode. Although she has been great as the bubbly and naughty Najma throughout the show but she was exceptional today. The kachookuma scene was just hilarious; Zhalay Sarhadi should do some serious comedy because she is a natural. I know this was no comic scene, it was Najma being her chirpy self but I found her too cute and too funny for words. I must say that I was wrong in assuming that Najma maybe taking Shafique for a ride, the poor girl is just having a good time and has a good heart. The way Shafique abandoned her in the middle of their late night date proved that Shafique is not the one to stand by his woman! The entire scene at the beach had to be the highlight of the show. Shafique is too embarrassed of being seen with Najma and I wonder if the fear of “badnaami” will allow him to take this relationship further. I totally loved Arham’s date with the kachookuma, Zhalay Sarhadi may have been the star of the show but all the actors involved did a brilliant job.
Rafique’s story did not move further except that he seems to be getting carried away with his wish to meet his sabz pari. I would really like to see more of Sakina and an insight into how she feels about having a husband like Rafique and a glimpse every now and then into what Rafique’s children go through. Anjay seems to be a regular at Rafique’s house now; I think that must have some relevance to how the story develops in the upcoming episodes. Faisal Qureshi as usual was spot-on as the foolish -simpleton-greedy Rafique. Sometimes I feel like Rafique deserves everything that comes his way, someone like him must pay a price for being so gullible. Rafique’s authoritative side only surfaces when he is dealing with his family otherwise he is a little too easy to fool, double standards how I hate thee! Honestly speaking, Rafique’s story is putting me to sleep now , it does not seem to be going anywhere, the only good thing about it is the great performances by Faisal Qureshi and Mohib Mirza in particular, otherwise I feel like I have been watching the same scenes, listening to more-or-less the same dialogues over and over again. But you never know what the next episode will have in store, I remember feeling the exact same way about the Arham-Milli track last time but today it was quite interesting.
Milli’s failing health shows that whatever Kareema is giving her is definitely working. While I understand that Arham should be by Milli’s side and looking out for her rather than spending his nights on the road but at the same time I am having such a tough time feeling for Milli the way I should be, given her situation. Maybe because she never really tried to put in the effort from her side to work things out with her Mother-In-law or to give Arham the confidence he needed to take a stand for her. I have always seen her complaining and I think it is this attitude that has turned Arham into an escapist. Okay, I know it is unfair to expect the woman to do all the hard work in order to make a marriage work but in this particular case it is very apparent that Milli is the wise one. Arham is the only child, who cannot make decisions for himself and his mother’s attitude doesn’t help. If Milli would not retaliate the way she does, things could have been easier for Arham. I am sure there are better ways of solving problems than the way Milli deals with the situation. It was a bit strange the way Milli asked Kareema to call Arham and ask him to come home; couldn’t she make that phone call herself?
I am very anxiously waiting to see the Najma-Shafique confrontation in particular and please no more never-ending “chila” scenes.
