Today’s episode turned out to be an over-dose of reality, showing more of the bleak and ugly side of our society from exploitation of women to gambling and drugs. I could not help but feel for all the Sakinas in our society in particular. It is not just Sakina but Shafique, no doubt is being exploited too, Najma is taking advantage of his simplicity and love for her. Najma is turning out to be a very negative character after all so I must take my words back. The question is that why is Najma doing all this to her “best friend”. In my opinion people like Najma who have been deprived of love and material things all their lives can either become victims and isolate themselves from the world or turn very negative and derive pleasure out of making other people miserable, I guess it must give them a feeling of control since they have never been in control of their own life. Getting Shafique to do exactly what she wants ought to be very gratifying and watching how it affects Sakina must make her feel like she is controlling her life. I find it quite ironic the way Najma judges Sakina all the time, this side of Najma’s personality in a very apt manner depicts the hypocrisy in our society where people have shocking double standards when it comes to others.
After selling the Rickshaw, Rafique very conveniently puts the entire blame on Shafique, although his twisted logic did not make much sense but since he does not believe in taking responsibility for anything, it did not come as much of a surprise. Shafique easily falls in the trap until Najma, for her own selfish reasons convinces him otherwise. Shafique disappointed me for the first time today when he let Najma talk him into asking Sakina to move out. Najma has taken away the only person who genuinely looked out for Sakina and her children. Najma is turning out to be as much of a wicked character as Anjay is. I always considered Najma’s friendship an escape for Sakina but unfortunately life gives no breaks to women like Sakina because they are so easy to exploit.
Anjay’s negativity and plotting knows no bounds, he took things to the extreme by asking Rafique to gamble his wife and then played the hero by “rescuing” her. There is absolutely no hope in sight for Sakina since with three kids, no money and no relatives, moving out of the house is not an option
Milli decided she is better off without Arham unless he is willing to buy her a house where the two can live independently. Arham thinks Milli is imagining things and his mother’s statements add to the confusion. Until now I had been blaming Milli for all that was going wrong in her marriage, the latest happening has totally changed my mind. What Arham’s mother did was not at all acceptable, difference of opinion is one thing but going as far as she did is in no way right and I am all for Milli’s decision to live separately. What I do not understand is that after knowing everything that happened with his daughter her father still expects her to compromise and put up with all that comes her way. Giving Sakina’s example is so wrong, Sakina’s “sabr’ can in no way be a good example for anyone. Just because she is in a situation which does not allow her to leave her husband doesn’t mean that Milli should follow in her footsteps too. I wish Milli’s father would try to convince Arham and make him understand his daughter’s viewpoint rather than asking Milli to patch things up with Arham. Last but not the least Kareema resorted to blackmailing tactics since with Milli gone there is no other way of minting money from Arham’s mother.
Overall, the screenplay, dialogues and most of all the acting was top-notch today just like all the previous episodes. I definitely missed the old fun-bubbly Najma and did not enjoy watching her turn into such a conniving character; I honestly did not see that coming.
