Instant gratification! That’s how I felt after watching today’s episode. After last week’s sleep-inducer, this week got my heart racing. Poor Afzal, this guy just can’t seem to catch a break. He has walked through the various stages of unrequited love- admiration, beginning of desire, hope, inception, doubt and finally heartache. And what does he do to mend his broken heart? He resorts to his bad boy ways again. His conversation with his friend Babloo made me wonder, is he trying to convince himself that he’s still the same or is he trying to make it easier on his parents to let him go?
Afzal has made up his mind that he wants to leave for Karachi but he knows his mother wouldn’t hear of it. His dilemma was evident from his conversation with Saajid:
Afzal: Mera Zameer mujhe keh raha hai ke chala jaa..
Saajid: Toh phir maa se kyun pooch rahay ho, chalay jao.
Afzal: Chala jaoun ga Saajid, bus mujhe koi ye bata dai k maa bari hai ya zameer bara hai..
Lubna called Arifa to give her a heads up about the incident that transpired between Farah and Afzal. Arifa lost her cool and made a dash to Farah’s home. She defended her brother and accused Farah of being a lying, deceitful woman. Before Farah could react, Arifa threw the letters at her and left just as quickly as she had arrived. Hearing the accusations, Farah collapsed- ah gain! Does it not worry her parents in the least that their seemingly healthy daughter faints at the drop of a hat? Hmm, time for a medical exam maybe…
Moments after waking up from her temporary loss of consciousness, Farah jumped in the car with Lubna and headed for Afzal’s home to set the record straight. I found it rather noble of Afzal’s mother to welcome Farah and Lubna with utmost courtesy. Moreover, she believed Farah when she confessed that she had hired Afzal but never written a single letter to him or anyone else for that matter. Afzal, having won the match he gambled on, walked home to find Farah and Lubna and before he knew it, his mother smacked him across the face.
Molvi Subhanallah walked in and tried to calm his wife who blurted, “ Phir say chori karte huwey pakrah gaya hai ka*****, pehle sirf chaynn churaya karta tha, abb toh jaan hi nikaal di!” Molvi Saheb has been one of my favorites; he is a role models for parents in general and fathers in particular. He knows Afzal isn’t perfect, but he never tries to force him to change. Instead, he gives him space so he can evolve into the son he dreams he will be one day.
Molvi Saheb extended the same courtesy towards Farah and Lubna as his wife and insisted upon gifting Farah before she left. A part of him sees Farah as his future daughter-in-law but even though that seems highly unlikely, he still adores her nonetheless. It was very refreshing to see that both Molvi Saheb and his wife didn’t exhibit any malevolence. SubhanAllah for Molvi SubhanAllah and his wisdom.
The last scene showed Afzal packing his bags. Will Afzal finally leave for Karachi? Will Farah have a change of heart? Has Lubna developed feelings for Afzal? What do you think?
