OK, this was another over-due post (after Mora Piya of course). The Pakistani Media World Awards 2011 may have been “for their page only” as per the words of their admin; however, they proved to generate more traffic for us at DramaPakistani, especially after Imran Abbas’ offical fanpage directed all the “voters” over here. (You will not find me complaining about that one!).
Anyway, so the list of winners is out and most of the awards are spot on, especially the following:
Best Actor: Fawad Khan (Humsafar)
[Personally, I wanted Fahad Mustafa to win, but since this is viewers’ choice, the award makes sense]
Best Serial: Humsafar
Best Director: Sarmad Khoosat (Humsafar)
Best Writer: Farhat Ishtiaq (Humsafar)
Best Entertainment Channel: Hum TV
Best Actress in Negative Role: Saba Qamar (Maat)
Best Actor in Negative Role: Nauman Ejaz (Mera Saaein)
Best Comedy Serial: Akbari Asghari
Best Actor in a Comedy Role: Fawad Khan (Akbari Asghari)
Best Actress in a Comedy Role: Hina Dilpazer (Bulbulay)
Best Soap: Dareecha
[Personally, I like Khushboo Ka Ghar better…but Dareecha definitely deserves it!]
Best Fresh Face (Male): Adeel Hussain
Best Actor in a Supporting Role: Faisal Qureshi (Main Abdul Qadir Hoon)
[I voted for Adeel Hussain here but FQ did a pretty good job in MAQH]
Best Actress in a Supporting Role: Sanam Baloch (Kuch Pyar Ka Pagalpan)
[I was rooting for Neelam Munir here, but I can understand why Sanam wins LOL!]
Best actor/actress in a parental role: Samia Mumtaz (Maaye Ni)
[OK. I begrudgingly say it was well-done! I would have gone for Samina Peerzada in Mera Naseeb though.]
The awards which I felt did not go where they should have gone are the following:
Best Actress: Mahera Khan (Humsafar)
WHAT? I should have seen this coming, again because this is a viewers’ choice award purely. But for crying out loud, WHY would you even THINK Mahera is BEST actress? I have raved enough in the nominations’ post – Aamina Sheikh or Ayesha Khan were much more deserving of this than her.
Best Dialogues: Humsafar
Why have ALL the awards gone to Humsafar? The best dialogues were in Uraan (Umera Ahmed) and Mera Naseeb (Samira Fazal).
Best Jodi (Couple): Fawad Khan and Mahera Khan (Humsafar)
Sigh! They definitely stand out among the rest, but for me, right now, the best couple is Sanam and Mikaal in KPKP!
Best Fresh Face (Female): Mahira Khan
I voted for Naveen Waqar here. She has done an excellent job in her debut serial!
Overall, most of the awards went to Humsafar – not surprisingly, but other serials should get some recognition, especially the good ones like Roag or MAQH. Even MRJT, in spite of all its shortfalls, rounded up the issue of child marriage properly. I do hope the rest of the “pages” take account of all the serials and give credit where credit is due.
