Numm-B Last Episode – Goodbye

One might have thought that there was a serial brave enough to kill our Fawad Khan and took the risk. Actually killed his character. I would have imagined that I would have a tissue paper box ready, I would be crying, tears would stream down my face. Except well in reality I took the Kleenex and wiped tears from my eyes, that too from laughter. Talk about WORST DEATH EVER!!!

I remember a few weeks back when Sadaf had asked me what I was doing and I had told her that I was slashing a script I had recently received and sending feedback to the writer.  I remember, cutting useless characters, combining other characters to make room for the story. Throughout this busy semester, one thing that was drilled into me by my professor was that in films and its related medium, there is three things that matter.

1)   Your setup, your introduction should be connected to your climax. If your setup is wasted and climax does not connect to it, well good luck then.

2)   What exactly is the reason for certain characters to be there. Do they have an impact on the climax, on your main leads character arc?  Get rid of fluff in your very first review of the script.

3)   Now that you are working on this big huge project, and have this opportunity, be impactful. Can you say something about your world, your thoughts through the characters; can you touch a nerve with your audience through your medium?

For Numm, none of this applies. Numm started out really well, a well penned, haunting OST, some powerful actors in form of Fawad Khan, Sania Saeed, Usman Peerzada, well etched out characters and really gave us some food for thought despite the ear cursing background scores and sound issues, as well as Neelum. And then somewhere along the way, the direction, the writing and all the characters were lost and hairpins mesmerized us! The last episode was a cherry on top of the disaster.

Thank you to every single one of you that has commented or read the reviews. Special thanks to Sadaf who was always available to cover! Thanks for the amazing support you all have given! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all our reviewers, readers and commentators :)

Here is my one last Vigil style review! :)
