After watching the episode 14 of Numm today!
My mind went through some questions that I am still looking to answers for:
– First of all why on the earth is Neelum still in the hospital? Do they also treat and give medications to viewers who are going numb by every passing minute when the Neelum khandan appears on screen and for the life of them cannot act.?
– I can regurgitate every dialogue of Qasim and Mehjabeen since it’s the same in every episode? Is there ever going to be anything substantial in their scenes?
– Why does Wali refer to his mother by her first name?
– What exactly was Amtul’s role in the entire play now that they have bumped her off. I think she provided a great mirror for other characters to pour themselves and emotions around her. With her departure, will we now have to endure more silent monologues for 80% of the episode?
-What exactly is baray sahib barking about in next episode’s preview. A vani living in torture. Hahaha baba ji, I think app to bilkul sattyaa gain hain. Mehjabeen has every luxury of live provided to her. She is in charge of a full house hold, still manages to see her son and has some sort of control over Wali. I say Vanii what…?
* Sigh *
I should stop talking about Numm now before my brain becomes anymore numm-b.

Bravo Maria ! After watching all these questions where whirling around in my head and I am sure in many of the viewers minds . However I am going to say I actually preferred this episode to some of the others for a few reasons ”
Lots more Wali Bakht aka Fawad Khan ,and that too in action hero form p) Not being too familiar with the feudal mindset ,I wanted to ask where was Wali’s security? Barrey Saheb intimated a few episodes ago a kind of ‘us verses them scenario” which hinted Wali might be in danger so wouldn’t a gunman have been with him?however I am willing to give any writer some literary license on these things ..it was just way more exciting to see our cough ..p hero pick up the gun.
Barrey Saheb finally got told off by Wali for using people as pawns and moving them around at his convenience.
Finally that liberal education Wali had came into play. Mahjabeen is certainly his business since she is his wife. The concept of Vani is a made up tradition which Wali should have challenged from Day one of his return. Now I am hoping that Wali will either give MJ her freedom or keep her in honor. Wali’s character is shown visibly disturbed by Neelam’s revelations .This is a difficult time of change and growth for wali which I think Fawad Khan portrayed rather well. Wali is not a talkative person and his emotions are illustrated by his action and moods . He is just getting used to the fact he has become a father , the actual difficulties of running a business are coming home to him and then the one steady person in his life has suddenly developed a personality . A personality , he is realising , with wishes ,needs and wants which he will have to accommodate sooner rather than later.
Just as Wali’s character arc is coming to fruition so is Neelam’s . I think at some far distant point in the future Kanza may become a better actress since she does have a certain presence but her facial expressions in this serial are very distracting. I think she is supposed to be much younger than the way she dresses or does her make up ,so when she makes those childlike pouts and faces it just doesn’t come off. A more experienced actress would know that even at the age of 17 and 18 girls don’t make those faces toddlers do . Her character is finally growing up and actually trying to understand Wali and his problems . She seems to care about him enough to understand his difficulties at the sugar Mill though she still cannot bare Mahjabeen’s position in his life. Like most women,she doesn’t want to have an “also” position but an only position.
Now my Biggest criticism is unfortunately for our much put upon Mahjabeen whose character arc is( I am guessing ) short on a few scenes. I try not to be judgmental etc but her character is makes the hair on the back of my neck stick up . She is moanlogueing (yes I know it’s not a word )away at a mental patient who has lost everything in the same stroke of ill fortune that she was a major instigator of . What does are suffering Vani say ? She is not concerned about Alamgir her lost love , not concerned about her family , not concerned about her lost position and self respect in this feudal set up and worst she is not even particularly concerned about her son . No , her focus is entirely on her ” relationship ” with Wali. She has lost the little boy she looked after , He has been taken away from her , her ” saza ka sathi”. At one level I understand …hey it is Fawad Khan ..ha ha ha .. But on a deeper level it strikes me as unrealistic . Of course there is an attachment on both sides but the complexity and nuance of this relationship has not been portrayed well at least for me.
