Mehru finally has a job. She’s a house manager of Maya. So while Mehru’s not around who looks after her kids, it’s her neighbor Saba but she’s not doing it for free. Mehru is paying her for taking care of her kids. Obviously, Meerab is not happy with this arrangement but he’s to agree nevertheless. When Mehru returns from first day of her job, she finds Bano Apa’s entire family around, they take whatever gifts she’s brought for her kids and she has to make dinner for them thus staying up late at night. Gosh, I am glad I am not a woman and that too a working woman! Now before you all crucify me for starting an anti-women movement over here, let me poor soul explain that I was just talking in the context of how difficult it is to do a 9-5 job and then look after the house also.
Maya’s husband Javed Sheikh also surfaces. Mehru mistakes her for Maya’s father-in-law but he actually turns out to be her husband. Wonder what this reference was for! Do they mean to show that Maya married him for his money, I wish not warna is play se associated ‘Meray Bhee Khawab Reza Reza’!
Mehru is made to arrange a romantic dinner for Maya and her husband, she gets late in the process and finds Meerab pouncing on him as Meeran had fever. The guy manages to make Mehru feel very guilty and once again a poor Mehru has to explain that she’s doing the job to make life easier for her kids and not out of an interest for the job. Felt so sorry for her when she’d to explain this to her husband. I know there are many Ahsan Khan fans out there but I felt like punching him for making life so hard for Saba (here I go again with my soft spot for Saba, koi to rok lo mujhe!).
Meerab’s professional life is in trouble as his boss has turned against him due to some report he sent to Head Office. Wonder why didn’t the boss bother reviewing the report. Oh one should not be so criticial, right J
Mehru arranges a party for her employers and gets very late in the process. This once again angers the chauvinistic Meerab to no end and besides scolding Mehru, he doesn’t even eat anything. On top of it, Bano Apa’s family ruin the outing plan of Mehru on their wedding anniversary. This bunch is nothing more than a couple of creeps and I wish I could banish them to the land of stinking socks. It also shows that Saba Faisal, Saife Hassan (yes Bari Apa’s director) and the two youngsters playing their kids are also doing a good job or a mean job should I say.
Maya gets rude with Mehru for asking to leave early, she says Mehru is her employee and she has already done too many favours for her. Mehru decides to leave the job but ironically, Meerab, who was so against her doing a job isn’t letting her now and tells her to apologize to Maya even when she wasn’t at fault just because he’s himself thinking of leaving his job as he ‘cannot compromise on his dignity’. To him Mehru can. What a man! And I know we have quite a few of them around! Would he turn out to be another Mazhar Bhai only time will tell.
Javed Sheikh appears to have a soft corner for Saba here, so what would it develop into, this also remains to be seen. Overall, the pace of these two episodes was good, Meerab’s hypocritical attitude towards Mehru and his double standards plus Bano Apa’s family’s continued non-senese made for good viewing.
And before I close (read fall asleep on my laptop) let me ask you, is this a ‘bekar serial’ (as many people tell me), a good one (as I believe) or a dark horse (as a fellow reviewer thinks, now don’t ask me what a dark horse is, I am quite colour blind I tell you!)
