I am still crying. Haissam Hussain, I thought you were amazing brilliant and talented, but after seeing this play I also realized that you were a true patriot for taking the effort to direct something of this calibre and of this devotion… truly my respect for you has doubled in the last hr as I watched this play.
I would encourage anyone who is going to watch Dastaan to watch this too- once may not be enough… again and again.
There was so much in this play that was moving. Muzaffar, the young prepartition patriot who defends his passion for Pakistan in front of his father… the scenes of how Muzaffar, his mother and sister are killed and how their dead bodies are found… the pain of a father who has to kill his young daughters before he leaves prepartition Hindustan… the sorrow of a brother who can never forget the flames in which his father kills his sisters, or the kafan in which his brother, mother and sister lay soaking in blood.
OMG, I am moved without question. There are several messages that Umera ji has tried to bring across in this play.
Mein bhi is paak mitti ko lipath kay rona cahti hoon… meri pakistan ki mitti, meri asli jaidaad
Ye watan hamara hai… please haar nahi maniye, ye humara Pakistan hai, aap ka mera aur humaray anay walay kal ka…
Azadi qurbani mangti hai, hasil karnay kay liye bhi aur qayam rakhnay kay liye bhi.
The pain of a patriotic parent to see that his sons do not want to stay in Pakistan is truly touching. The message is clear…is mulk to hum sab ki khidmat ki zaroorat hai. Pakistan ko tumharay kal ki nahi aaj ki zaroorat hai, bhurapa nahi, jawani chahiye, garam khoon chahiye…
One of the best dialogues without doubt was by Noman when he points out all that he likes about Pakistan, “Makiyaan aur machar, aur hamari police kay nakay, pagal kuttay jo raat kay isi bhi qawt pechay lag jatay hain, bussoon mein lataktay wei loog, horn pay horn ki awazain, Pakistan Zindabad”.
Aye Allah hum sab ko Muzaffar aur Noman ki tarha jasba aur watan say mohotbat ata karai… Ameen.
Dastaan is the beginning, Mutti bhar Mitti completes it. Without doubt HH and his crew were brilliant, and the english/urdu vocabulary falls short of words to express my love for this play.
Pakistan Zindabad!
