So if I may continue with my fish analogy a bit longer, if they had only taught their children to fish instead of presenting them with platters of grilled fish prepared table side just as they like it, maybe their spawn would have made something of themselves aur hamare kaan bhi unki wohi ghissi pitti bataien sun sun ke itne pak to na gaye hote.
Cue repetition on loser son, loose damaad, in fighting, in-laws fighting which probably was a tame version of a cat fight, and absent parenting (which somehow is the one that gets my goat – really? Get your kids up and ready for school already! Paint your nails or whatever they are supposed to be doing later! ) So things are at a head (three episodes too late) and Nabeel is clutching his head in despair and disappointment and totally distancing himself from his enabler behavior which led his siblings to get to this state in the first place.
As you sow, shall you reap – which was pointed out by Mr. Humdari himself – Zeeshan.
Well I suppose it was meant to be so that Romiasa had enough time and brain power to see what was going on with her own eyes and make sense of it and see her own woes now reflected in Nabeel. I get that their conversations were supposed to be meaningful in light of upcoming events, but meh. And more meh.
Both of them seem to be suffering from short term memory loss though – that entire conversation about people using you as a lottery ticket was laughable since both our love fish conveniently erased out the fact that Nabeel bought the ticket, sorry person himself from Khala and the transaction involved this business of taking care of their expenses for eternity to which Enabler sahib happily agreed to – As you sow, shall you Romaisa?
I take it that freeze frame with Nabeel and Romaisa was for effect and not to show us Romaisa’s brain processing powers in real time? I was beginning to think that the point of this episode was to highlight her lower than average IQ. Again. Exhibit A Why didn’t you change? Mujhe khyaal hi nahin aaya….Exhibit B Let’s have kids! Mein ne kabhi socha hi nahin…Exhibit C Phir mat jaaye na…inability to say a white or any lie for that matter – someone stop production till this woman finds her brains. Also shirt folding fail – who folds like that!
Alas, looks like she is going to be the roothi-dhooti dukhyari of many episodes to come. Though the way they ended the episode was the only saving grace – however, was no one concerned that they haven’t heard from him in a week? Also good to see Khala and Alia again, in loud laalchi mode. Here’s hoping Sanam can keep it going.
I am still hanging on by a thin thread here. Given that I am in it for eye candy and Mikaal’s ship has sailed, my thread is unspooling. Mikaal was really good once again, and I feel really terrible for him – his romantic lines totally wasted on this woman – again! The fact that he was able to hold his own despite this blank slate and create shades of nuance for this unlikeable character is commendable. His scene with Zeeshan was an important one as things move ahead, so sigh, hai, you will be missed….
Bye bye Mikaal and thanks for all the fish…and helllooo Adeel !
