I have only one word for this episode – WOW. Even though I knew what was going to happen, I was totally bowled over its excellent execution by all involved – the actors, the sound editor, the director and indeed, all the extras as well.
Yes, I switched channels from Kuch Pyar Ka Pagalpan to watch this, and I have no doubt Mora Piya will break into the top four drama serials in the rankings this week.
The way the episode started with the wedding and the horrible way in which it ended could only leave you wanting to cry at the turn of events. Indeed, the happiest day of the life of Ujala and Faisal turned into their worst nightmare. Amina and Adeel! Hats off! Both did a commendable job in portraying the various emotions needed in the different scenes. I was especially struck at Amina’s performace. After her over-appearance in A&B Production dramas, I had sort of lost touch with her great acting skills. In this episode, I once again realized why I had loved her acting so much in Ishq Gumshuda.
Adeel Hussain also surprised me. In the beginning of the scene when he and Ujala were sitting and talking to Pasha, the gang leader, I thought he would fall apart. But later, he also got into his part and you could actually shudder in the face of what was happening on the screen. The direction was excellent, even if it got a little filmy with the camera zooming from Pasha to Faisal too rapidly. They pulled off a sensitive scene as decently as they could, though I do wish the episode had an “adult” rating somewhere to ensure no kids were watching.
The morning-after emotions were also emanating strongly from both Amina and Adeel as they played perfectly the couple whose lives have taken an unfortunate turn, and no one knows what they have gone through.
The only problem, as I see it, is with the story. Why the heck did that producer call Faisal in the first place? Why did he leave and that too, with Ujala? Didn’t he realize he was endangering both of them? And conveniently, no one saw them leave or return. Whatever happened, seems to have happened pretty fast.
But apart from these bloopers (I think I have ranted enough about the script), this was one episode worth watching. I was totally gripped and stayed glued till the end. (This, despite the fact that I had been really lazy to watch the first three episodes).
I am now looking forward to see how this incident affects Ujala and Faisal’s married life. Waiting for next week!
