Mein ek ajnabee aashnaa houn… Mein khoobsoorti Mein, khaandaan mein aapse kamtar houn… Mein Sirf ek commitment houn Jo woh nibhaana chahte hein... Shereyaar’s admission and repeated reminders of Emaan being his commitment have slowly started to take a toll on Emaan. Her conversation with Sajjal hinted at her own insecurities and realization that she’s a small piece of the puzzle- the puzzle that is Shereyaar. While I liked the way Emaan welcomed Sajjal, I found it strange that she would confide her unhappiness with her supposed nemesis. To be honest, I found their entire conversation rather odd- I can empathize with Emaan who’s feeling isolated in a new city but surely there are better ways to try and bridge the gap.
Sajjal’s satisfaction at hearing how miserable Emaan feels was nothing surprising. But what I did find surprising was Zareena’s reaction- she has caused far more damage than she realizes and Sajjal is a product of her own stupid fixation with Shereyaar. As if that wasn’t enough, we also heard from her father expressing his desire- kaash ab bhi kuch aisa hojaye ke Shereyaar ka dil phir jaye…
I don’t know why her parents think so less of her that they can’t seem to think beyond Shereyaar. I’ve said it time and again, we really need to bring about a change in our society and for that to become a reality, we need to start positive reinforcement through media. I’m not saying that one drama will make the difference- change takes years to take effect. But it has to start somewhere and slowly but surely we will see it moulding the mindset. Why can’t we have characters that deal head on which such real- life setbacks? I’m not saying we need to see some desi version of Warrior Princess- just simple characters who can pick themselves up with dignity and move on with their lives. That in itself will inspire positivity and maybe, just maybe touch someone who’s been a victim of circumstances. Sometimes, even animated films leave a lasting impression…
Shereyaar is a rebel- and I think he doesn’t realize that the more he tries to resist his family, the more they tend to affect him. I don’t get why Emaan is allowing herself to be dragged in the midst of this family feud- her constant mention of Hajra Aunty, bachey, are just pushing her husband further away from her. Tumhe agar apni shamein khaali lagti hein toh unka ilaaj khud karo… I was extremely disappointed with Shereyaar after this outburst but he managed to come around and redeem himself. As expected, Emaan knows how to maintain her position and her silence won him over. And of course, just when you think things are finally starting to look up for our leads, all hell breaks lose- the test results confirm what many of us feared- Emaan will likely be deprived of becoming a mother. Something she’s wanted for the longest time. Jiske paas Jo cheez nahin hoti ussey uss hi ki khwaish hoti hai…
Mol has been a refreshing watch with a steady pace, some strong acting and a gripping narrative. This may seem insignificant but I must make a special mention here for whoever is responsible for maintaining the decor- this is by far the only drama where the bed linens are gorgeous . I’m always noted that the bed spreads/ comforters/ sheets seem so gaudy despite the notion of wealthy families. They’ve definitely got it right this time! Well done HUM! You continue to enhance our viewing experience.
