Today’s episode was a continuation of last week’s flashback- Haider and Sajeela’s story. Haider was completely smitten by Sajeela and felt he was the luckiest man alive. He adored his wife and put up with all her tantrums thinking it was just a passing phase. After spending 3 months in Turkey, Haider and Sajeela relocated to Pakistan. Bibi notices Sajeela’s laparwahi early on and tries to forewarn Haider but he ignores it. Sajeela takes full advantage of Haider’s feelings and walks all over him- she starts spending more and more time away from home and flatly tells him that she was raised with plenty of freedom and she intends to remain a free spirit. Agar mohabbat kartey ho toh next time sawaal jawaab nahin karogay. Why is it that we end up hurting the people who care most about us- be it our parents or a close relation? In this case, Sajeela not only cheats on Haider, she’s also lying effortlessly to her father and sister- giving them the false impression that Haider isn’t the perfect soul mate after all. Little does Sajeela know what’s in store for her! Karma, as they say, continues to haunt us.
Bibi is clearly annoyed with Sajeela but I liked how instead of taunting her directly, she prefers to talk it out with Haider. Haider turns a blind eye out of his unrequited love for Sajeela and Sajeela wants out of the marriage since she is keen on rekindling the romance with Mazhar. Sajeela’s marriage to Haider was to prove a point to her father- she wanted him to see how awful Haider was so he would support her in filing for a separation and eventually agree to her marriage with Mazhar. But as luck would have it, her father takes ill and moments away from his deathbed, he tries to tell her how lucky she is to have ended up with Haider. Makes me wonder, did he find out about Mazhar’s motives? Did he know that Mazhar was already married to his cousin, Saima? And if so, why did he keep all this to himself. Had he told Sajeela everything, she may have shed a few tears but then tried to work on her marriage and realize that Haider was a good man and she could find her happiness with him. Timing can be critical in the way our lives shape up!
After repeated disappearances, Haider confronts Sajeela and his worst fears are realized when she bluntly tells him she wants him to leave her- if she leaves him, her family would definitely not be supportive of her decision, but if he leaves her, she will have their sympathies. The story didn’t progress as much as I would’ve liked- many of the scenes were repetitive and going by the preview of the next episode, it seems we’ll see yet another episode about Haider and Sajeela’s story. I would really liked to see Aiman and Taufeeq’s story- it would be refreshing to have a story about a father-daughter relationship and how it evolves. I feel that too much time has been allotted to the supporting cast and not enough to the main characters. What do you think?
