A birthday celebration, a dessert date, a lunch/ dinner celebration- yes, there was plenty of food in today’s episode- not just the eating kind, but also food for thought. Aiman is slowly coming out of her shell thanks to Haider’s encouragement but she treads lightly, living with the constant fear of losing the one relationship she has left- that of friendship with Haider. Aiman’s enthusiasm over Haider’s birthday makes Bibi pine for Haider to experience marital bliss. But that suggestion triggers a negative response from Haider and he ends up shutting Aiman out completely. Haider, who has always maintained a cool composure on the outside is not as strong on the inside. Hmm, once bitten, twice shy. Does Haider still harbour feelings of love for a woman who used him and humiliated him in the worst possible way?
Aiman, who has become completely dependent on Haider, finds it impossible to function without him. Their day begins with a phone call and ends with another one. She calls him every time she has something to share (which happens to be at regular intervals)- stories of Rameen, or random thoughts of self-pity. She can’t seem to get anything done and ends up at his home, in his bedroom, drowning in a pool of tears. Tears, being a woman’s deadliest weapon, are enough to make any man surrender and Haider ended up filled with remorse- Mein tumse naraaz nahin houn; mein houn bhi nahin sakta naraaz! Itna badlehaaz aur bemurawwat admi nahin houn!
Haider and Aiman are emotionally attached- she sees him as a mentor and the only friend she has and he sees potential in her. Mein umar ke uss hissey mein houn jahan mujhe apna khayaal rakhna parta hai! Haider has always been aware of the age difference even though Aiman/ Emma no longer takes it into consideration. I like how Haider dutifully updates Taufeeq about Aiman- whether she is opting for additional courses on public dealing and confidence building or whatever else she pursues. Taufeeq seems to acknowledge her but doesn’t seem to be even remotely interested. Almas is trying to overcome the barriers but there’s only so much she can do since her husband has no expectations of her being motherly towards Aiman since he is no where near a father figure himself.
Sajeela was happy to know that Haider never remarried. This woman has no self-respect whatsoever. She marries Haider, cheats on him then leaves him, marries Mazhar, divorces him after he cheats on her and now she’s hoping for a reunion with Haider! If only relationships worked that way… The preview for the next episode shows the epic make-over we’ve all been waiting for but not without more drama- Aiman’s realization that Haider is not just a friend but something more.
We’re on Episode 13 already but the story hasn’t progressed the way I had hoped. Too many episodes were wasted giving us an insight into Sajeela/ Mazhar and not enough on Aiman. Apart from Aiman and Haider’s blooming friendship, is there no other dimension to this woman? For someone who’s carrying so much hatred, it is a miracle that she’s not had a nervous breakdown yet. How has she not confronted her father yet? When will she ask him the obvious- why did you never look back? I would like to see Aiman transform into a confident woman who can stand up for herself- and one who looks reasonably good too. Looking forward to next week! How about you?
