I must start by saying that Khala’s character maybe highly cliché but it has certainly added an interesting twist to the story. Our society if full of opportunists like Khala, who will see something good for themselves even in someone’s misery. But I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this new twist in the story and am looking forward to how Asfand deals with the “vultures”, oh sorry I meant to say relatives in his house. Ghazala javaid had to be the perfect choice for playing the conniving Khala.
It was good to see that Maha has not completely gone into depression just yet. I really wanted to see some more of the Maha we saw in the first two episodes; one who likes to be the boss and take charge. The way she tells the nurse and the housemaid how she wanted things to be was actually nice to see because any woman no matter how bed ridden she is can exercise some kind of a control as long as she is present in the house. Maha’s concern for her children was very aptly portrayed, although it would have been even better if there were a few scenes of Maha with the children. I find Ali’s character very interesting, some may say that he is too young to be the way he is but I have a feeling that this kid will have a bigger role to play in the upcoming episodes as the story progresses. Both the child stars are doing a commendable job. Maha may be bed ridden and may get insecure every now and then but she definitely knows that she has a strong bond with her husband, which is there to stay. Her trust and faith in her relationship is evident from her confidence.
Nazish is still struggling to figure out just where she stands in Faiz’s life, even after his repeated assurances that he holds her very dear, she cannot be very sure. Sarmad Khoosat is spot on as the confused husband who does not know how to choose between his wife and his sister. Shehnaz will leave no stone unturned to get the point across to Nazish that she has the last say. Faiz could have been the perfect husband if he did not have a manipulative sister like Shehnaz, I actually feel as sorry for him as I do for Nazish. I may have said this before but I must say it again that overall Nazish maybe a very docile, accommodating woman but she is not the kind of woman who will not share her insecurities with her husband and that is what I really like about her character. She does not leave the viewers thinking as to what is going on in her mind but comes out with whatever is weighing on her mind. So she is not exactly the I-will-bare-it-all-with-a-smile sort of a character that we usually see in plays. I must say that Nimra Bucha and Sarmad Khoosat share amazing on-screen chemistry and made me go aww several times… How cute was sharing the same cup of tea part, I have not seen that before.
This was a very interesting episode, so yes I was definitely pleasantly surprised at today’s developments. A part of me was expecting the play to get very slow and depressing but it managed to hold my attention and I am definitely looking forward to all the gharilo politics, clichéd as it maybe.
