There were no new developments in today’s episode; the viewers got more of an insight into how Maha and her family are coping with her condition. On the other side we saw more of Shehnaz’s unjust behavior towards Nazish and the way Faiz turns a blind eye to everything that is happening around him because he “chooses” to be helpless. The first half of the play seemed quite slow but I thought the second half was far more interesting.
Maha came back from the hospital and in my opinion the welcome her kids gave her was rather odd because usually kids are very curious about things and would not leave their mother alone for a second if she came back after so many days, irrespective of her condition. Maha’s sister’s reaction was all wrong too, she should have been all smiles telling Maha everything would be fine and meaning it! But she was standing beside her the whole time with those painful expressions on her face. One thing that was absolutely spot-on was Asfand’s Khala’s reaction. I remember many such visitors visiting me when I was in the hospital once for a minor surgery. People are more inquisitive and nosy when visiting a patient than concerned and genuinely sympathetic. I could totally relate to Maha wanting to change and look presentable before the Khala came to see her, she probably knew only too well the purpose behind Khala’s visit.
There were times when I thought that Nazish was totally being a door mat but then there is simply no other way to deal with a person like Shehnaz. Nazish was right in saying that it is impossible to please Shehnaz but Faiz will not have it any other way. People like Shehnaz are not just control freaks but also highly insecure; her insecurity shows in the way she makes sure that Nazish is not dressed up when her husband comes back home. Although I really do not like that a wife is expected to look her best before the husband comes back from work. After all men come back from work and change into something comfortable, why can’t women dress up the way they want too also? Is home like an office for wives? Where there is a dress code especially when the husband is around? I know all this is somewhat out of context but since there was such an issue between Faiz and Nazish regarding her appearance, I could not help but give my opinion!
Overall, today’s episode started off on a slow note but was captivating enough later on. My only fear right now is that this play may get too slow or depressing; honestly speaking depressing I don’t mind that much but slow can be difficult to sit through.
