“Aur theek kehtay hain log, main insaan nahi hoon, hewan hoon.”
These words were uttered by Malik Shazmaan in sheer anger whilst holding his “godfather” by his collar almost threatening to kill him, if, even he, came in the way of killing Shazmeen.
This episode, by far, has got to be my favorite one. So much just went through, and we got insight on so many new characters. Without further ado, let’s get to it!
So, firstly, 20 years have passed, and we were introduced to these new characters:
1) Malik Shazmaan (in detail): He’s basically a psycho. That’s the only way to describe him. He doesn’t care about anything, is ready to kill without hesitance, does things that you wouldn’t do if you were normal, has extreme mood swings, and finally, HATES Shazmeen with a passion. He’s been brainwashed ever since he was little, and doesn’t listen to anyone anymore and couldn’t be anymore careless. He is also seeking a love interest in his “friend’s” mother, who is known as “Beghum Inayah” (from what I understood).
2) Shazmeen’s two daughters: Erum and Anum- Erum is very much like her mother, all into politics and caring about their family’s reputation. Whereas, Anum is completely the opposite. She has no interest whatsoever in politics and doesn’t bother with anything related to it. Both detest their “father” and don’t exactly like his company.
3) Beghum Inayah: She is the mother of one of Shazmaan’s friends and eventually becomes his potential love interest. She is also a politician and dislikes Shazmeen as well. That’s all we found out about her until now.
4) Nabeel: Naina’s son who is not yet doing so well in politics.
That’s all the new characters this episode encountered. Shazmeen is still facing the problems with her marriage and Iftikhar still hasn’t changed his old ways. Naina and Yawar are still living together on the other hand, and Yawar is continuously defending Shazmaan’s every action, right or wrong (it’s mostly wrong).
Now let’s get to the two things that I just didn’t like at all.
1) Hissing ‘shaz-maaaan’ noise. Just. No. As overdone as the ‘saa-eein’ effect is, it’s sort of the “signature” of this drama. By adding the other sound effect, it completely ruins it. And on top of that, they do it after every single dialogue Shazmaan says. Well, not every single but you get what I mean. ANYHOW, it’s not working for me.
2) Naina’s horrible makeover. She doesn’t look like a modern politican, not to me, at least. She looks like an elder lady who is trying so hard to be modern and can’t pull it off. Her hair, glasses, and makeup are not doing anything for her at all besides ruining her character. I mean, Shazmeen at least still looks fairly normal. Naina looks like a crazy cat lady. I don’t know. It’s not looking too great…
Besides that, this episode was pretty fantastic! Will be waiting for more! :)
