Sequels are in these days guys!!! and ARY is going low so what better than to bring to life one of the blockbusters of channel’s history. Keeping in view the way the drama ended a sequel was always on cards. the new teasers and promos have finally come out .
CAST:
Fahad Mustafa comes as the new lead and i think this one is going to be trump card in the success or failure. we will only know about his potency when the serial finally comes out. but having seen noman ejaz and the way he immortalized mera saaein! my own opionion(strictly personal) is that i dont think fahad is mature enough to carry this play on his shoulders even in the promos his over acting is more than visual ! an actor should know his limitations . Fahad is lovely in the real life charming boy roles, the moment he turns to larger than life roles it really becomes wayward.
Waseem Abbas comes in and a wild guess could be that he will be playing an elderly politician and may be(strictly may be!!!! ) the mentor to fahad mustafa. i think this is an excellent choice . waseem abbas has already played a similar role in Landa Baazar and he was magical in that too…
Shahood Alvi comes in as the other senior actor and the guess on his role is again the same but this is going to be a tough ask for him . his performance in Mere Huzoor is very recent and if he follows the same shade here, Its going to be always tipping the scales.
Sunita Marshall is resuming her role from season 1 and again her role seems to be far more powerful this time in fact my guess(again only guess!!!) is that she is going to be main competitor against fahd mustafa. Even in season 1 she was the character which inder went the most radical and un real changes. in my opinion sunita is one of the beautiful faces but acting wise she has never impressed me! i hope she proves me wrong this time . But it seems like this time her role is far more demanding than before and this is going to be more texing on her.
Aamina Shiekh comes in as the mother of mera saaein. I think aamina is a wonderful actress and she has provided us with some beautiful performances off late. but in season 1 she was suddenly one hell of a confused character and i never completley understood what Naina was doing . lets hope she drams a more definite boundary this time.
Mahnoor Baloch is the new entrant and it looks like she is going to play the premium love interest of Fahad Muastafa. Mahnoor is a welcome addition because she can bring a lot on board with her charming looks but if she is pitched in a perplexed and conceptual role she normally falls short of the requiem (fingers crossed this time)
STORY LINE
we know one thing for sure that samira fazal is no more the writer ! samira is one hell of a writer and i think she was one of the three pillars for the success of mera saaein last time(other two being babar Javed and Noman Ejaz) . whatever the reason it is very unfortunate it comes as the rebut play of parissa siddiqui, A name we have been seeing for sometime on A& B plays as content head and she showed some potential. still this is her debut play and it is a tough ask for anyone but lets hope she pulls it off.
from the teasers my guess(i usually guess stories quite well) is that sunita marshall has inherited the political empire of Noman Ejaz while fahad mustafa comes back to reclaim what was his own and in this surpasses his father by a big amount ! Essentially it looks a contest between Shahzameen and Shahzamaan(hats off to writer for choosing the name so well) , Waseem abbas and shahood alvi look like playing the battle too and acting like the king makers behind the two pawns in the battle ground while mahnoor, aaiza and a servant girl complete the love life of fahad mustafa..(those of you who are thinking about a recent indian film by Parkash Jha ! Plz Don’t, atleast till the time it comes out)
Fears and Hopes
Mera saaein was memorable production in many ways . Pkaistani drama went back to the treading grounds of feudalism and the political corruption though it was not a master piece like Waaris or the more recent Raahien, It was a fairly interesting production. Samira fazal(despite all the allegations of plagiarising “My Fuedal Lord” did a commendable job . babar’s direction was fairly good and Noman Ejaz’s acting was superb(after Nijaat it was the most mature of his roles)….
This time around a lot have changed. i still have high hopes for the commercial success of this drama. As i mentioned in a previous review that A&B has been down and out for a while and i have been really waiting for their come back . A healthy competition is a fundamental requirement of our media. In my opinion it was only the monopoly of moomal in previous years which enabled them to throw extra marital affairs in crazy proportions on the audience. A&B has produced some memorable issue based plays and we hope this one is yet another mile stone in their Journey.
