After the not-so-great episode, as DB put it, last week, this week’s episode most definitely paid off. The story moved on subtly yet sharply to a point where I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next.
Firstly, we started by witnessing a lot of sweet talking between Shazmeen and Iftikhar, which eventually led to her asking him to marry her. This scene kind of reminded me in the previous Mera Saeein 1, where Naina asked Wajahat to marry her. Parallel? I think yes. Anyhow, a few days before they get married, Shazmeen presents a list of “conditions” which takes away Ifitkhar’s power to give her a divorce. I was thinking to myself at this point “She just showed him up!” As reluctant as he seems, he gives in – but not until later do we see why he gave in and what he also did to the document before signing it sending it back to her. They get married and Shazmeen is all happy before he comes into her room and slaps her, later dragging her to a room in which he locks her. As he calls it, his “qaidkhana”. The next morning he tells her that she better do everything he says in every manner and situation. Shazmeen hesitantly (and for her children’s protection) agrees.
Naina however, seeing the news of their marriage, is enraged and decides to take a stand. Finally! I was just about thinking why she doesn’t go back and live in the US or wherever her kids are? But she cleverly gets a DNA test to prove that her child’s father was Wajahat, and she indeed didn’t get the abortion Shazmeen set her up for previously. Naina goes to Yawar and he complies into helping her at any cost, mostly because they finally have a ‘waris’ and they can defeat Shazmeen’s reign. They later both visit Shazmeen and Iftikhar and give them a little “surprise”.
The evilness lurking within every character is so cleverly concealed, and comes out at the right time in this serial. I was pretty shocked when I saw Naina take a stand. I also, at the same time, thought that she would eventually back out at the last minute, but she stood up for herself. Iftikhar always seemed a bit psycho-ish to me, and well, we could see where all that went. Everything just keeps getting better and better.
Regardless of how her wedding night turned out, can I just say how stunning Shazmeen looked in her dress? It wasn’t overdone, yet it wasn’t underdone either. It was just perfect. I simply loved it!
Concluding, I enjoyed every minute of this episode. Can’t wait for Shahzaman’s entry hopefully in the next episode!
P.S.: Are they not showing any more next episode previews anymore? Couldn’t find it on any YouTube link.
