Mera Pehla Pyar is like the drama that covers more in 2 episodes than 1, so it’s a pretty slow-paced story, but at the same time, it’s not boring at all. 2 weeks ago, we were introduced to Tahaa’s college life, and not an easy one to say the least. He used to be a “sensitive (as his father puts it)” kind of a guy who was very gullible. Anyone could boss him around and he would do whatever they’d say. Comparing him now to his previous life, Tahaa has really changed. However, we see those tiny glimpses of lacking confidence, etc…here and there.
This week, a MUCH more interesting episode than last week, ended the flashbacks and flew us back to the present. After Maira and Tahaa develop feelings for each other, and participate in a dance competition at their college together, something goes wrong and Maira never shows up! Tahaa is absolutely devastated by this, and till now he still hasn’t really gotten over it. As we’re left with this, Hira tries to continue searching for Maira along with her grandmother, who apparently feels guilty about forcing Tahaa and Ayesha’s marriage.
It wasn’t a happening episode, but I guess it was one of the major turning points of the serial. I’m assuming after this that Tahaa and Maira will find each other, and eventually get married. Or maybe not? What I found interesting was that Mera Pehla Pyar is a blend of different serials, like there’s the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai part of it with the daughter finding her father’s old love, and the Cinderella part of it where the girl sort of ‘runs away’ or never shows up ‘at the ball’/dance competition. It’s different in regards to the dramas that are airing this season. It’s a fresh story and I like how it’s not too negative but more realistic at the same time. Gives us viewers a break from the depressing, hopeless dramas being aired nowadays.
Everyone has obviously put in a great amount of effort into this serial, and it is so evident. They all have done a great job, from the director to the actors, everyone! I like the pace of the story even though it does seem slow at times, but it’s a breath of fresh air for me! :)
