Wow, This serial definitely ended with a bang, though few might have not liked the ending keeping in view Iqra’s sacrifice but in my opinion, it couldn’t have a better end as Iqra’s character was too strong to settle for less and especially as an unwanted second wife. Zafar mairaj deserves applause for ending Mehram with a twist. All the actors performed to the best of their abilities and lived up to their characters.
Hamza returns home hundred percent sure that he has to bring Iqra back home, but he is also seen perturbed with the idea of losing Maya in case Iqra returns, because no matter how much he loves Iqra Maya would always be his first and intense love. Maya finally takes the decision of leaving Hamza and going abroad but she loves him too much to take a divorce. She is ready to spend her life in separation but cannot share her husband with another woman. Finally Hamza and Maya arrive at Iqra’s place to bring her back but find a letter instead addressed to Hamza. Iqra clearly conveys to Hamza that no matter how much they want to be together, some relationships are just not meant to be and he should not try to find her. Hamza is quite shattered with Iqra’s decision but he accepts it as he is left with no choice. After few years, Hamza and Maya are seen together happy with their daughter shopping around in a Mall where accidently Hamza finds Iqra’s book “Mehram”in a book store dedicated to no one else but Hamza. This proves to be extremely overwhelming for him and we can clearly see his painful smile and hidden tears upon reading that. We are also offered a glimpse into Iqra’s life who has established herself as a famous poet with publishers hovering around her place to get her books published. However, the pain of unrequited love and loneliness in her eyes cannot be ignored for sure.
I absolutely loved the ending, no matter how painful it was. Iqra proved to be way stronger than she appeared to be and lived up to her words. Maya came across as a very sensitive, yet a possessive woman who is not evil at all and completely natural. In fact most of our women can relate to her character more than Iqra’s character. I like this play for portraying women in such strong characters. They didn’t resort to evil ways to win over the man in their life. In fact they were very clear in their head as to what they wanted from life. This is how women should be depicted rather than crying and scheming against others which gets very sickening at times. I completely loved the acting of all the leading actors. Zahid Ahmed( Hamza) is a wonderful addition to the acting fraternity. His biggest strength is his deep voice which will take him to places if he continues to act like this. Sirajul haq has done a commendable job with the dialogues and last but not the least, for me the highlight of this play was his OST. I have been addicted to it even before the play started. Hats off to such touching lyrics, and beautiful music. Nobody could have sung it better than Sara Raza. Thumbs up for the whole team.
