OK, let me state this out-and-out: when you read Mehreen Jabbar, Farhat Ishtiaq, Adeel Hussain, and Sarwat Gillani all associated with ONE drama serial, the only thing that comes in your mind is: MUST WATCH!
Yes, even after the disaster that Neeyat was (and mind you, that was only because the script was flawed), Mehreen Jabbar is back with a bang. And with none other than another emotional, heart-touching story by Farhat Ishtiaq who has just given us a blockbuster script of Humsafar.
The official promos of Mataa-e-Jaan are now on air (http://www.facebook.com/MaataeJaan) and its first look totally testifies to the fact that Farhat Ishtiaq has stuck to her original story – the scenes thus far shown corroborate the commendable way in which they were detailed in the novel. Of course, since the novel was based on one track only (the love story of Haniya and Ibad), word is out that Farhat Ishtiaq has added some more details and multiple tracks.
Sarwat Gillani is playing Haniya Sajjad, the main protagonist of the novel. The currently-released teaser perfectly matches the scene in which she wakes up late and rushes to her university. Adeel Hussain has the male lead in the form of Ibad Uzair – after Mora Piya, one cannot doubt that he will do total justice to this role. His teaser as well as the OST portrays him as the perfect son and friend – and indeed, the ideal husband.
Other tracks, added to the original story, concern Haniya’s grandmother, sister and brother in law, played respectively by Sajida Syed, Sanam Saeed and Junaid Khan. Hina Bayat and Jawaid Sheikh are playing Ibad’s parents. Ahsan Khan is making a guest appearance as Adeel Sufyan, Ibad’s best friend. All in all, the choice of cast seems pretty sensible for now.
With Mehreen Jabbar, one cannot even express any doubts in terms of direction. However, it seems the drama serial will go chronologically, and not present-then-flashback mode in which the novel was written. The only drawback of this approach is a lack of suspense. However, this is only a conjecture. The drama might take the flashback mode as well.
Considering that Mataa-e-Jaan will replace Maat, all I can say at this point is: hurry up, time, will you?
