Can I just say how much I detest the egotistical, hard-headed Mr. Uzair Farooq? What a blustering fool he is – his son comes all the way from the US to explain himself, but does this man appreciate that? No! Not only does he turn his back on Ibaad, throwing him out of the house, but also orders Hajra to choose between husband and son – is this man for real? And, all this for what? His pride? His given word? His beloved brother’s feelings? I understand these things matter, particularly in our culture, but surely not at the expense of his only son’s happiness. And, chalo, even if he didn’t agree with Ibaad’s choice, surely he could’ve just heard the poor man out? Surely, that isn’t asking for too much? Bechara Ibaad! Mr. Uzair you fully deserve the Chump of the Year award! I cannot wait to see you taken down a peg or two by the very girl you profess to hate – Mrs. Haniya Ibaad nee Sajjad.
Phew! With that rant out of the way, I can now congratulate Momina, Farhat and Mehreen for keeping the story alive by throwing in yet another brilliant twist. Here I was, all set to offer fatiha, prayers for the dearly departed soul … etc, but hey … guess what … seems like the blessings will have to wait. I wonder though, will prayers even be needed now? Hmmm … Will the car make it to its destination?
And yes, Haniya had her first confrontation with Uzair Farooq, and this faceoff was definitely worth the wait. I enjoyed the way she rattled off all her qualifications and what-nots, without letting her oh-I’m-too-smart-for-my-own-good father-in-law get in a word edgewise. Finally, Haniya has endeared herself to me. I am now looking forward to seeing her bond with Uzair, and anticipating her first meeting with Hajra.
Back in Chicago, a much happier Yamina has started socializing, and, yes, as one very perceptive commentator had noted on an earlier thread, the divorce lawyer definitely had more than a professional relationship in mind when he took on Yamina’s case. I have been a huge fan of this track since day one, and I am thrilled to see Yamina trying to put the unpleasantness behind her and moving on with her life. What a positive message to put out. I hope Yamina enjoys a happy ending with the lawyer, but something tells me that Mr. Adam is not entirely out of the picture as yet. Weirdly enough, I kinda missed Adam today. In any case, let’s see … keeping my fingers crossed for you, Yamina.
All in all this was a fabulous episode, an emotional rollercoaster for sure. Hina Bayat and Javed Shaikh were superb yet again. They never have more than a scene or two in each episode, but the impact they leave in those few minutes always seems to linger over the whole episode. Adeel Husain was great yet again. And yes, Sarwat Gilani, today she came into her own as Haniya – loved her in this episode. Her concern for Ibaad’s well-being was very touching, as was her interaction with Yamina.
Looking forward to more from this talented crew – great job MJ &Co!
P.S. How fun was it to see MJ in a blink and miss cameo as a random person waiting outside Uzair’s office. I hope she didn’t have too long a wait … :)
