Finally, we saw the ‘mother’ in Shireen, rather the ‘human’ in her today…well better late than never. Shireen walks in on her servants while they are attempting to steal her jewelry, and the aftermath is quite ugly, which convinces Shireen to leave for America urgently. I thought her decision was rather odd, if she was indeed feeling guilty for what she did to Aabish, she should at least have contacted her to say goodbye if not apologize.
While Aabish is trying extremely hard to adapt to the new environment, Asma is hell-bent on making things even more challenging for her. Aabish walks in when Asma is talking ill of her and they end up having an argument. Aabish walks out and goes to her house, hoping her mother will forgive her. She is utterly disappointed and has to go back to Sherry’s house when she finds out that her mother’s house is locked. Aabish has no choice but to try her best to adjust in her new house. Sherry retaliates with hitting Asma (well-deserved, I would say). But Aabish manages to convince Sherry that they all need to live together; work together as a family and very gracefully handles the situation and is very willing to do her share in the house chores. Not only this, she does it quite happily too. But does that satisfy Asma? Most certainly not! Asma is not getting over her brother being in love with someone else other than his sisters and mother anytime soon. She is a typical Sisiter in Law, many such ‘characters’ exist in real life. Faiza, on the other hand has the right approach but convincing Asma is turning out to be an impossible task for her. It is very obvious that Asma is going to be playing the “saas” in this play!
The Basit-Zara track is getting too violent for my taste; I really do not enjoy women being beaten up on-screen. Basit’s paranoia and rage seems to be getting the best of him and Zara must bear the brunt since she has chosen to live with him. I definitely think that the Baist-Zara track has been over-done. The overall idea is not bad; it would have been nice to see the life of a woman who is married to a mental patient portrayed on-screen but the way it has been shown is rather unpleasant. No doubt there are men like that in this world but I’d rather not watch women being abused this way. I can’t help but feel for Zara and can only wish that she would walk out.
We have yet to see how Basit makes his entry into Aabish’s life and what the outcome is. I don’t think I can bear to see more of Basit-Zara track for long. Ayesha Khan and Affan waheed were spot-on today. Aabish’s dialogue “Mei halaat se nahi darti rawiyun se drti hun” totally caught my attention; it had a lot of depth. The girl playing Asma is also doing a great job. Overall this was an okay episode but like I said I would really like to see more of Aabish and Sherry and less of the other odd couple.
