Basit and Zara finally got married in today’s episode and that too with the consent of Zara’s parents since they had no other choice. A very confused Zara gets the shock of her life from the onset when Basit gets one anxiety attack after another right after their marriage. I think that Basit’s character has been totally blown out of proportion. There is nothing wrong with showing a man who has psychological issues; in fact it may give the viewers an insight into such people’s minds and lives. But I really don’t feel the character has been portrayed properly. I have no idea why Nauman Masood is over-acting, it no longer seems like one is watching a play from start plus but Nauman’s acting could get him a good role in Lollywood as well! Basit’s anxiety attacks are getting too frequent now and I have changed my opinion about Basit getting some counseling, the guy needs to be in an institution! Secondly, how could a girl who has been with him for so long have totally no knowledge of his mental condition? Surely, she did witness Basit’s attack first hand in the last episode but that was after he proposed her and they were due to get married in a few days. The scene where Basit is lying on the bed unconscious after his anxiety attack and Zara and the servant are having a conversation about his medical condition, would have been better had these two people been outside the room as opposed to being in the same room as Basit.
Coming to Aabish, her mother finally decided to go to Sherry’s house mainly due to Aabish’s brother not supporting her against Aabish. Aabish’s mother returns from Sherry’s house with a high bp and low tolerance. I really liked Rubina Ashraf’s acting and dialogues today. Although the dialogue where she says to Aabish ‘Usay kaho tumhari laash le jayen zinda dargor kurne ke liye’ sounded wrong, lash le jayen zinda dargor krne ke liye?? No does not make sense. I think the director decided against a re-take and let it be. But overall I like Rubina Ashraf’s acting in this play, she maybe the only ‘original’ character in this entire story. Aabish is just being very silly and if she faces trouble in the future, it would be because she asked for it! There are a million better things a girl like her could do with her life; she is just throwing her life away. I wish there was a bigger ‘majburi’ because of which Aabish had to get married to Sherry or maybe if Aabish was shown as a naïve, innocent girl than it would have been easier to feel sorry for her in the future. It is funny how my opinion changes about each character with every passing episode, just goes to show that the characters do not have a ‘personality’. The way Aabish shouted at her servant today convinced me that surely she is not the kind of girl who would fall for someone like Sherry. Although, she did a great job of convincing me otherwise in the previous two episodes.
Enough said! I am hoping though that we would get to see less of Basit’s anxiety attacks in the next episode because they are making me laugh now and this is no comedy play!
